The first message boards (that weren't kind of impenetrably dull interfaces and that people beyond computer enthusiasts could stand to wade through) really, really took off around 2000... just in time for 9/11 to happen in 2001...
And that's when I saw red flags... at first it was the "Lefter than Thou" types I knew, always conspiracy-friendly, who really started going all in "9/11 was an inside job." "Isn't it all obvious? Wake up!!!" And I saw that it merged two things for them: their anger and frustration that the world did not go the way they wanted it to fast enough, and entertainment. They got a high out of digging into the conspiracies, feeling that they had unlocked secrets because they were smarter than everybody else. And I argued with them that maybe because they were all agnostics or atheists, they'd found new religions to be addicted to... some of those very same people went around the political circle to become Tea Party or MAGA or QAnon in time... some stayed on the left side, but at this point both sides on the outer fringes repeat the exact same talking points - NATO & America are evil and aggressive, Putin is a good guy forced to do something we're framing as bad, Jews are evil, "open your eyes we're all slaves"...
And 2000 is when the FSB spun off a unit to spend time in message boards and then Social Media when it appeared to amplify and play up all of this stuff to both sides.
And frick has it worked like a charm!

On @Maxar imagery, two MiG-31s and one Su-27 have been completely destroyed, and a MiG-29 damaged, at the Russian Air Force's Belbek Airbase in occupied Crimea. A fuel storage near the main airbase runway was also destroyed, and debris continued to burn in the aftermath.

Russian media: Novorossiysk port, oil depot hit in overnight attack
by Abbey Fenbert May 17, 2024 5:12 AM
Editor's Note: This is a developing story and is being updated.
Drones and missiles struck an oil refinery and seaport in the Russian city of Novorossiysk in the early hours of May 17, causing explosions and power outages, the Russian Telegram news channel Astra reported.
Local residents reported hearing at least eight explosions in Novorossiysk overnight, and video footage records the sounds of both drones and air defense activity.
A missile struck the Novorossiysk port and caused a fire to break out, residents said.
According to locals, the attack also hit the city's oil infrastructure. Both the Novorossiysk Fuel oil terminal and the Transneft terminal were attacked.
Novorossiysk reportedly lost power during the attacks.

People are less and less persuaded that Zionism is a form of American patriotism. Which then leads to questions about how we’re spending our money. You can see that in the polling of younger Americans. They’re skeptical.
The fact that Biden is even entertaining the idea of slowing down aid shows that the writing is on the wall for Israel.

For me it was the speech restrictions, when you overreach like that, it's a sign of weakness.

I looked for this on FIRMS but not there yet other than heat signatures for half a dozen large kilns which could be to calcine petcoke, turn lime into cement or calcine alumina before shipment to a smelter to become aluminum. Russia's large hydroelectric plants provide the cheapest electricty need to for the smelters which is via large carbon anodes

We have no idea the extent of damage yet. We know that shiite blew up and shiite is burning. It is also the location where tankers are loaded with Russian oil, the most major point of export, plus tankers with refined products. Claims made that refinery at Tuapse was hit, 240,000 BPD.
One issue is that this is where oil is exported from Kazakhstan.

I don't doubt he did say that... and I don't doubt Putin thought "what a dumbass..." and also knew he was full of shite.
So, what would happen if Russia or China bombed Washington?

Over 100 Drone Attacks Overnight: Kremlin Reports Kyiv Targeting Krasnodar Oil Refinery and Port
Ukrainian officials haven't officially commented on this attack on Krasnodar Krai and Crimea yet. However, Kyiv Post special services sources said the information and details are now being verified.
by Julia Struck, Kateryna Zakharchenko | May 17, 2024, 10:26 am
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced a massive overnight drone attack on Russian regions, during which “more than 100 Ukrainian drones” were allegedly intercepted in the south of the country, over occupied Crimea, and the Black Sea.
According to a statement from the Russian ministry, 51 drones were destroyed over occupied Crimea, 44 over the Krasnodar region, six over the Belgorod region, six over the Black Sea, and one over the Kursk region.
In the Russian city of Tuapse, located in the Krasnodar Krai (Territory), a fire broke out at a local oil refineryignited by a Ukrainian drone attack, as reported by the local operational headquarters and Russian media.
The port and two oil depots in Novorossiysk were reportedly hit
In Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, there were also explosions after possible drone attacks. The Russian media outlet “Astra” first reported explosions in the city, and the local port might have been impacted.
Later Astra, citing its sources, reported that in Novorossiysk, UAVs targeted at least two oil depots and two petroleum terminals. Specifically, the Novorossiysk fuel oil terminal and the Importpischeprom terminal suffered damage, with drones striking two fuel tanks, per Astra reports.
Furthermore, the attack extended to the Gazprom oil depot in the village of Kirilovka and the Grushovaya Balka oil depot of Transneft, according to Astra. There were no casualties reported.
The Ukrainian side has not yet officially commented on the mass drone attack on Russian regions. However, sources within the special services told Kyiv Post that the information is now being verified.
