In Vietnam we had boots in the ground for over five years before the anti war movement picked up steam.

There wasn’t near the outage for Iraq 2 as there was for Vietnam.

100% correct. Also, the anti war movement for Vietnam was not nearly as large as the media portrayed it. California young adults would pull protestors out of cars and beat the dogshit out of them during the annual parade down PCH per a friend in Seal Beach who was one of the young adults.

Additionally, protestors on college campuses in California were beat up by other college students. A friend here in the BTR area was there after being one of the first troops in Vietnam and living in SoCal at the time where he first attended college before moving back to attend LSU.

Love ya GOP, but Mike Johnson has shown no grief for nor support of the Ukrainian people.

How much of the Ukraine vote did Johnson win? Last I checked, he was representing the American public.

Mark Milley is the only dumbass who said that.

PS -- Even the doomer post quoted said they'd have energy issues... in just 6 months

He said heating homes would be a huge problem in 6 months...during the winter. The energy problems are already here, but you know that.

Add Sumy to the list of power plants hit, was just struck by glide bombs in the last hour or so.

So Putin could rule over Ukraine is the correct answer.

No you were told that energy infrastructure has been and continues to be a target for Russia regardless of Ukrainian attacks on refineries

Yeah, they just chose to do this now when nothing has really changed that would have prevented them from doing it months if not over a year ago

I don't think I was lucky or Nostradamus. It was pretty obvious what would happen to anyone who pays attention and understands escalation of warfare even at an elementary level.

I agree, but what is puzzling is why it took so long to do it.

European Parliament refuses to agree on funding for Council of the EU until Ukraine is given Patriot systems

Ivanna Kostina, OLEKSANDR SHUMILIN — Thursday, 11 April 2024, 14:58

The European Parliament refused to vote on the financing for the Council of the European Union because EU countries were unable to provide Ukraine with additional Patriot systems.

Source: European Pravda with reference to MEPs present at the meeting

Details: Guy Verhofstadt, a long-term MEP and former Belgian Prime Minister, of the Renew Europe political faction, proposed removing budget approval from the European Council agenda until member countries can find the seven Patriot systems that Ukraine urgently needs.

Verhofstadt cited the head of European diplomacy's statement that European countries have one hundred Patriot systems, while Ukraine only requires seven.

His proposal was met with thunderous applause.

The decision is referred to as an unprecedented event. He had the support of 515 European parliamentarians, while 62 were opposed.

Quote: "Parliament refuses [the] discharge of the Council budget until [the] European Council decided to support Ukraine with additional Patriot anti-missile systems!" Verhofstadt wrote on Twitter (X).

"Just now: The European Parliament has suspended the decision on financing the EU Council for failing to deliver Patriot systems to Ukraine," Andrius Kubilius, a Lithuanian MEP, commented.

Escalation?

Ukraine is about out of air defense missiles thanks to Mike Johnson.

My question goes back to the beginning of the war, day one when Ukraine had no Patriots. It wasn’t until around the early part of 2023 that Ukraine started using Patriot Missiles.

Could you expand on the question? I'm still not clear on what you are asking.

Sorry.

Day one of the war Russia had every opportunity to crush Ukraine’s infrastructure.

The West had done very little to help Ukraine defend itself. There were no Patriot Missile Systems in Ukraine.

I initially thought Russia would crush Ukraine with missiles and air power.

We know.

If I run 3 miles per day in 2023 and 7 in 2024, I increased the distance I'm running. It doesn't mean I wasn't running in 2023.
