He’s implying that once you take up arms against the enemy you’re no longer considered a civilian and become legitimate military target.

Ukrainians are taping looters all around the country to lamp posts and telephone poles using rope and tape.

Only a seriously fricked up statist piece of shite would hold this point of view when a country is invaded for zero reasons.

Man the looters look a lot different where I’m from.
Love this though.

You should take it up with the Geneva convention and virtually every other written document on the laws of war instead of yelling at me.
It’s possible for one to be against this invasion and root for Ukraine while also understanding what is and isn’t a legitimate war crime by definition.

Which makes a lack of sustained combat footage more odd. Maybe there is a lot that I haven't seen. Just seems like every combat correspondent on the planet would be there right now.
Agree. We have all this video and photos but somehow basically nothing showing any of these large numbers of casualties. Assuming a 2-3x multiple for wounded there’s 21-28k casualties including KIA and WIA for a force that just grew to 100k active. Why would there be no video of any of it? No aid, fall backs, etc. assuming the 7k figure is accurate which I don’t think is, largely due to lack of any of this and that’s a very high attrition rate where one side has such vast equipment advantage.

If this shite goes much longer I'm going to get to OMLandshark hysteria level. Russia declaring martial law looks an awful lot like mobilization for all out war.
We may be the ones who get to see the Fermi Paradox tested IRL, so there's that.

Summary from some guy on FB for anyone interested. He’s clearly pro Ukrainian, so some here may be triggered. This is your warning.
quote:
Day seven of war in Eastern Europe. Civilian casualties are on the rise as the Russians are bombarding Mariupol preparatory to storming the port city. Completing the conquest of Mariupol will complete a land bridge from Crimea to Rostov that could improve the Russian supply situation in the south to a considerable degree. Russian paratroopers also stormed Kherson last night and appear to have control of this important city at the mouth of the Dnieper River. Both these battles are occurring in the south where the Russians appear to retain the initiative. So far as I can tell, they hold the initiative nowhere else.
Kharkiv was reportedly attacked by Russian paratroopers last night, but they were repelled. That city continues to be shelled. There are encouraging reports coming out that the Ukrainians launched a counterattack west of Kyiv, which is what I've been hoping for. The Russians have been worming their way around the west side of the city, and the Ukrainians may have just crashed into their flank. The 14th Mechanized Brigade and elite 95th Airborne Brigade hit the Russian lines at Makariv early in the local morning and there is talk that a small portion of the Russian Army is cutoff. If that is true, that would be a tremendous morale-boosting victory. Unfortunately, not a Russian soul would ever learn of such a defeat. But its still too early to peel back the thick fog of war that veils the truth. We can only hope.
This is the first instance I've seen multiple reports confirming the Ukrainians have committed themselves to a counter-offensive. And that's not the only counter-offensive. There are reports the Ukrainians hit the Russians in Luhansk, splitting their zone of control between that city and Kharkiv... possibly even reaching the Russian border. Again, though, the fog of war lays over thick when armies begin to move. It will take time for that fog to lift.
As encouraging as it is to see the Ukrainians fighting so bravely and more actively now, they are beginning to take losses. It is estimated that the Russians have lost around 5% of their committed combat power. The Ukes are estimated to have lost 10% of their combat power. The Russians can replace their combat losses with conscripts, Chechens, Belarussians and any other lackey they can lay their hands on to fight for them. The Russians do appear to be reinforcing their air force along the NE Ukrainian-Russian border. We could see the Russians begin to increase their tempo of air attacks, utilizing unguided munitions that will cause greater civilian casualties and collateral damage. I don't think they care given what I'm seeing in Kharkiv and Mariupol. Its what was expected as the Russians become more desperate to meet their objectives. The Russians themselves admit around 1,000 KIA and 1,600 WIA. Western sources suggest up to 6,000 KIA. The truth will be somewhere in between.
The Russian logistics train is still snarled up NW of Kyiv, more likely because there are too many forward elements jamming up their destination. I've seen pictures of the infamous Rasputitsa coming on... mud season. Russian vehicles are mired up to their elbows in mud. This will help the Ukrainians as the Russians will be forced to stick to hardtop roads where they can be ambushed. Tomorrow will yield what happened today, even yesterday. Let's hope these counter-offensives will have disrupted the Russian steamroller. Any battlefield victory by the regular army's concentrated forces would be a huge morale booster, but I'm under no illusions it could win the war in of itself. Time will help win the war. Time for the sanctions to work. Time for the Javelins to cook more Russian tanks. Time for Putin's regime to collapse.

Like I said, there is an absolutely real possiblity that I'm not seeing the combat footage out there, but it seems like the only thing I'm seeing is grainy cellphone footage that's generally less than 1 minute long.

That's b/c the Biden admin decided to released all the intel in the run up. It was actually a brilliant move b/c instead of keeping our intel close to the vest and talking about what we knew after the fact they blew up any chance Putin had to shape the narrative.
Agree. What I think the majority, myself included, thought of as wishful provocation on our part turned out to be sound strategy based in factual information most likely. Does make me wonder Zekenskys role in it because he continued to downplay. Maybe that was further strategy on his part as well because regardless of why the true tallies are currently it’s hard to argue Ukraine wasn’t well prepared. Maybe Zekensky actively contributed to Putin’s belief they would just rollover as the Russians rolled through to sack Kyiv and takeover.

This aircraft (RF-91961, bort # red 07) was one of the Su-25SM attack aircraft deployed from the Eastern Military District to Belarus. It was last photographed in Novosibirsk's Tolmachevo Airport in 2022. Pretty solid confirmation it was lost.

Now we’re talking.
