What makes you think the war would end? From a Ukrainian perspective, it would probably be next man up. Whoever follows Zelensky could be even more hardline about not ending the war.

Impose peace, let Russia keep the land they've gained, and institute a new red line. Give Ukraine the $80 billion we are going to waste on munitions and instead build infrasturcture, put some useful industry there and make it a western country. Would be useful for an eventual war vs China.
Putin will be dead in 10 years and their military is a paper tiger. They're not invading Poland or Finland. Just stop the heckin war.

But they will have to spend it on fortifying their side of the DMZ. We all know Russia will regroup and launch another attack once they are ready.

Russia will want control of the Dnipro River, which would strangle Ukraine economically. If I were Ukraine, that would be a hard pass. Besides, Russia will just regroup and come back again like they did after the Crimean invasion of 2014.

This is KGB/FSB 101. Russian security services foment separatism in an area that they want. Then, when the lawful government comes in to crack down, Russia moves their military in to "protect the minorities". Transnistria, South Ossetia, Chechnya, southern Ukraine, etc. The examples are numerous.
