I will guarantee that some of the “Slava Ukraine!” types on here have posted in the past how we should never have been involved in Viet Nam or the evils of the MIC. But, because CNN and HuffPo have told them it’s our honor bound duty to protect the grift that is the Zelensky government, they will support draining our Treasury like it’s a religious cause. There is no justification for our involvement in NATO any longer, much less Ukraine. Western Europe is rich enough to handle regional affairs themselves. Russia is a paper tiger - if even that.

They are draining nothing. You are drinking Tucker the Stupid Phucker (or bought and paid for phucker) KoolAid.

When this is over, we need to politely withdraw from NATO. NATO already outnumbers Russia by 4:1 in terms of population even without us, so they'll be fine. Iran will be kept at bay by Turkey. The only real pressing issue on the horizon is China, but they're pretty well boxed-in by India, Japan, Australia, and ASEAN. South Korea outnumbers North Korea by 2:1 and has more advanced weaponry even if they lack total volume. We're pretty well insulated and can pick and choose carefully which interests and allies we want to defend in the future.
Damn you are dim.

Right, but being the world's policeman hasn't been cheap. We did it for our Bretton Woods partners because it was in our interests, from a security perspective, to do so. The world has changed since 1945, so I think that our foreign policy should reflect the current times, not the immediate post-WW2 security environment.
Being the de facto protector of global trade since the 90's has been in the US's interest. The US isn't out here doing favors for anyone.

Lol. I must’ve missed the history class that said it was a requirement that we be in unbreakable and everlasting military defense treaties that require us to provide for the defense of entire continents before we can start buy their shite or selling them our shite. Oh and we aren’t in ASEAN.
Well, the main goal is to keep everyone using dollars, which boons the economic outlook for the US far more than there is a drain on US resources through military spending. And having a stronger military than anyone in Europe while also making those European countries mostly junior partners is a pretty explicit goal of US policy, as the US absolutely does not want a European power to challenge them in any way.

We can have a big navy without promising to defend all of Europe so they can spend their money on education and healthcare and 3 years of mandatory paternity leave instead of buying an army that can defend themselves.
Brah, your hatred of Europeans is clouding your judgement.

This is the only part of your post that's even close to being accurate.

With Russia pulling out, Azerbaijan is attacking Karabagh with the goal of ethnic cleansing.
FIFY. This is a horrible situation, the result of bad Soviet borders that were never agreed to by Armenia. Armenia has held Karabagh for 30 years, since a brief war after the collapse of the USSR, and ethnic Armenians have lived there for centuries.
But oil-rich Azerbaijan has a defense budget larger than the entire GDP of poor little Armenia. So, Armenia has hosted a Russian military base and has trusted in Russia's promises to prevent what is happening today.
I feel very bad for the Armenians who live in Karabagh. But Armenia had 30 years to negotiate a peace with Azerbaijan, and they have consistently refused, preferring instead to put their trust in Russia. Incredibly foolish.

Every bit of this is correct. There is no "reasoned response" that requires our involvement in Ukraine.

What a nonsensical response. He clearly just hates funding their governments.

I never said we shouldn’t have a strong military. Just that we don’t need to commit to defending the entire continent. I’d be willing to make this compromise. The US cuts its standing army by about 60-70% and keeps the strongest Air Force, Space Force and Navy the world has ever known. If Russia or anyone else in Europe gets to big for their britches and starts fricking around we’ll come over and take care of business but European boys will do the majority of the dying.
If the status quo must be kept then the Europeans need to pay homage to daddy on a regular basis and there should be a joint statement from all the leaders of European nations delivered from the White House lawn that the United States is indeed their daddy.

I don’t hate them, I just think they are beneath me. Kinda like a highly educated individual from Chicago might look at a sister fricking trailer park redneck in Alabama yelling Roll Tide while he beats his pit bull.

Props on that one, that was creative.

Russia is down to using Cubans in the war. They came over for construction jobs in Russia and when they landed they were handed a gun and a helmet from 1939. You can’t make this shite up.
