why?

Russia deserves to be a hegemonic power.

A healthy and powerful Russia means a more stable geopolitical future.

Where are we going to end up with this shite? I guess Putin is not killable or going to die so this shite is going to drag on forever now.

None of those in position to replace Putin will stop the inherent Russian aggression.

In modern history Russia has been one of the most destabilizing nations.

I keep believing we can't scrape any lower on the bottom of the barrel, yet we find new lows like this.

Good God.

Why? They're 145 million people and a second world economy. They're basically Brazil, but with more land and resources.

Are they going to take Turkey too?

Ironically, Turkey is part of the reason for this war. Turkey's population is stable/growing while Russia's is shrinking. Russia needs to secure the Bessarabian Gap to fend off a surging Turkey in the future.

Not worth the risk, and if it did happen it would probably just set off a chain reaction of events I’d rather not see.

Aside from that, whoever takes his place HAS to continue the war. Russia has no choice.

It's their way of life for a few hundred years. However, Putin's ouster or death, gives them a scapegoat and excuse to retrench and rebuild while playing like they are nice guys

If Putin were to die, Russia's new leader (whoever that would be) would need to secure power. The administrative and military needs to accomplish that would be significant, and Russia would really be unable to continue the war in current form.

New Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov isn't messing around, firing all of the deputies of his predecessor.

Government dismisses all deputy defense ministers.

The Cabinet Ministers of Ukraine has dismissed all six deputy defense ministers and the state secretary for defense, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers announced on Sept. 18.
