I fully support Russia stopping their war of aggression immediately.

Mainstream media is acknowledging the failed counteroffensive.
“Western allies receive increasingly ‘sobering’ updates on Ukraine’s counteroffensive: ‘This is the most difficult time of the war’
“They’re still going to see, for the next couple of weeks, if there is a chance of making some progress. But for them to really make progress that would change the balance of this conflict, I think, it’s extremely, highly unlikely,” a senior western diplomat told CNN.
“Our briefings are sobering. We’re reminded of the challenges they face,” said Rep. Mike Quigley, an Illinois Democrat who recently returned from meetings in Europe with US commanders training Ukrainian armored forces. “This is the most difficult time of the war.”
The primary challenge for Ukrainian forces is the continued difficulty of breaking through Russia’s multi-layered defensive lines in the eastern and southern parts of the country, which are marked by tens of thousands of mines and vast networks of trenches. Ukrainian forces have incurred staggering losses there, leading Ukrainian commanders to hold back some units to regroup and reduce casualties.
“Russians have a number of defensive lines and they [Ukrainian forces] haven’t really gone through the first line,” said a senior Western diplomat. “Even if they would keep on fighting for the next several weeks, if they haven’t been able to make more breakthroughs throughout these last seven, eight weeks, what is the likelihood that they will suddenly, with more depleted forces, make them? Because the conditions are so hard.”

Wow, CNN actually allowed to tell some truth. No way Ukraine wins. You people and your 1100 pages.

Reminds me of the "Q" thread. Thousands of pages of cope and delusion.

So we can trust the MSM now? I have trouble keeping up with when we can and can't trust the reporting.
So I'm guessing the Eastern Front also collapsed and you learned to read maps if you are posting CNN articles?

This thread is the most optimistic place on the planet about the war in Ukraine. You guys really should be more realistic.
Ukraine isn’t getting Crimea or the Donbas back. More than likely the lines will stay pretty much where they are and will become the de facto new border. Both armies are too inept to accomplish any real breakthrough.

How can Ukraine win when they can’t conceal movement and they can’t control their air?

Which is what most of this thread has said (once an immediate breakthrough failed) unless Ukraine can actually make a breakthrough this year which is becoming less likely as time goes on.
Where the big differentiation is, what is the alternative? Neither party is happy with the current line and both believe they can achieve more and don't trust the other party to actually abide by any peace agreement. So it'll most likely be a hot war for a while regardless unless either party is actually able to make a meaningful breakthrough.
ETA: Clarification

Ukraine sisters! The tranny of Kyiv said Russians aren't human. I'm so proud to have her on our side.

what is the alternative?
There are like 20 countries in Europe with big modern armies that could easily intervene and push Russia out of Ukraine. That’s the alternative. But they won’t. Because they’re a bunch of ballless losers. There’s no rule that says Poland or Germany or Romania can’t send their army to Ukraine to fight the Russians. But they won’t because they’re a bunch of pussies.

The solution short of that would be for Europe to commit to protecting Ukrainian cities from drones and cruise missiles with fighters and their mobile AA systems. It would also free Ukrainian AA to surge towards the front lines.
It would place Russia and Ukraine on equal footing with respect to the deep strike threat.

Well they don’t have the balls for that either.
I don’t think that would change the situation much anyways.

I think there was a realistic reason for optimism that the spring counterattack would be successful.
After all the counterattack in the Fall of 22 worked very well and since then Ukraine was given billions in weapons and ammo.
It appears now that Ukraine isn’t going to gain a breakthrough despite the previous successes.

That sure looks like what’s going to happen at least in the short run. Perhaps there eill be a DMZ similar to Korea, but I expect a guetilla type war to evolve with Russia clamping down their conquered territory.
Russia will likely lose a lot economically, but they will try to split up the west and cut deals with individual countries as they can.

This is laughable. I wonder which "Americans" were polled and how the questions were asked.

Can you trust them, no! But when they are beginning to all say, well it may be a stalemate or not sure Ukraine can sustain the causalities, they are throwing in the towel. They couldn't hold on to the lie forever so they are switching gears. Sorry fellas.

Such deep mining is very difficult to overcome especially when it can be refreshed by artillery.
The flip side of that is that if Ukraine in some way hits the Russians from behind, those deep minefields have the defenders trapped also.
