Counteroffensive gains so far
![]()
I’m reminded of the words of Generalfeldmarschall Gerd von Rundstedt following the failure of the counteroffensive by II SS Panzer Corps around Caen in late June 1944. When he phoned Berlin to report the failure, Chief of Staff Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel purportedly asked, "What shall we do?", to which Rundstedt replied, "Make peace, you fools! What else can you do?"

Most people around here are more than happy to sacrifice every Ukrainian for their own good

There comes a point where those in charge must face the situation for what it is. It’s obvious at this point Ukraine is not going to push Russia back to its pre-war lines. And Crimea might as well be on the far side of the moon when it comes to their chances of reaching it. It’s time to open serious negotiations to end the fighting. It’s pointless to keep it going.

Been an unnecessary war from the beginning.

No one is forcing Ukraine to fight. They are choosing to fight for their own freedom.

Didn't the West torpedo multiple negotiations between Russia and Ukraine?

What's stopping Ukraine from picking up the phone with Russia right now?

Several hundred billion dollars of foreign aid

@NOELreports:
Romanov, I think, wants to be the next Girkin. He's willing to doompost when others will insist that everything is under control. His view:

Visual evidence that Ukraine has expanded their bridgehead over the Konka river. AFU units managed to increase their presence eastwards towards Oleshky. Russian forces were seen targeting the Ukrainian controlled dacha's.
Additional gains projected in the map. It is very likely that the area in between this location and the coastline is also under Ukrainian control.

Kherson region, Russia.
Despite the rather streamlined formulations and descriptions of Comrade Rybar (LINK - the situation on the left bank of the Dnieper is becoming very serious.
The enemy is strengthening and reinforcing its presence in the area and along the line of the Antonovsky bridge on the left bank of the Dnieper, as well as on almost all the islands. Both on the left side of the Dnieper, and against the Cossack Camps.

Which has already been committed to the rebuilding of Ukraine. If Ukraine wanted, they could call Russia right now, draw lines, and billions in aid would still be coming to help them rebuild what's left of their land.

Nope. That's Russian propaganda. What happened was that Ukraine was desperate and considering making a deal with Russia in the first month, right when the US and UK finally promised aid. If Ukraine didn't get any help, then yes, they would have agreed to terms with Russia.

You realize that's all lend-lease, aka a loan who's payment can be called at any time, right?
Plus they're going to ask for hundreds of billions more in the future.
Point being the Ukrainians won't send a postcard to Moscow without asking the west first.

I’d love for someone to functionally explain how that would even work.
“Don’t make an agreement to stop this war or we won’t support you to fight the war you’d no longer need to fight!”
Ukraine did try to make peace in March. Russia is on record repeatedly saying the time is not yet right for negotiations. The US is on record repeatedly saying the decision is Ukraine’s and we will support them whichever way.
As usual, the Q tard interpretation of world events requires wholesale rejection of reality under the guise of “muh mainstream media!!!”

That’s another 4chan myth from the people that brought you gems like “the Obama family installed Zelensky …. During the Trump administration.”
It is very possible to question our involvement without resorting to Kremlin talking points. This invasion was not a war of last resort, and you know it.

I've heard nothing but positive spin around this counteroffensive.

They would be fighting with or without our material support. They aren’t going to roll over for Russia too storm in and conquer them overnight. . The alternative is Chechen barbarians raping and pillaging major cities, a targeted campaign to erase the Ukrainian national identity (as has been documented), and generally being subsumed into Putin’s autocracy. There would be another Bucha in every city Russia captured. Are you more than happy with that outcome?
