I don't think China's plans with regard to Taiwan will be at all influenced by the on the ground realities of the Ukraine invasion.
I do think they'll look to world reaction and adjust accordingly.
Was going to comment with this. I think part of the present global response has just as much to do with being a stark warning to China re Taiwan as it does responding to Russia. These actions would be much more crippling to China than Russia if implemented there in response to a Taiwan invasion. Again, I do think the wildcard here though is China has largely controlled narrative around not recognizing Taiwanese independence, that was not the case with Russia/Ukraine, even though the history is there.
I think there’s a chance China recognizes this and changes course some and in doing so attempts to be the peacemaker. I think this occurring will harm us in the long run outside of the west. This could pivot everyone else to China, which would be probably a bigger boon for the Chinese economical and geopolitically than simply having Taiwan to themselves. How much of a chance? Idk less than 50%, but I’m just a guy on the internet.

Sounds like the kind of weapon that might be bad news for a 40 mile convoy.

Well we are still buying 800K barrels of oil per day from them
Those are probably contracts that are already in place. Several plants (at least in LA) have halted new buys of russian crude.

What is your background in ballistic missile defense to make such an authoritative statement?
Appeals to authority are dumb.
It doesn’t matter what credentials he has, or doesn’t have.
The math doesn’t work.
We’ll never have enough interceptors stop the Russians.
And they will never have enough interceptors to stop us.
Maybe, someone will magic up a directed energy weapon, that is highly effective. But as long as we’re shooting missiles at missiles, too many ICBMs will slip through.

For those who don't know, this is what a TOS-1A Thermo attack would look like. It is not one bomb and one explosion.

Yea it looked like something on the ground that was already on fire blew up. I believe something that large would be detonated well above ground if it was a bomb.

We do know, unless we have some super secret defensive anti-missile system that is unlike anything the world has ever seen. Apart from that, we do know what the U.S. is capable of.
I promise you have no idea what you are talking about.

Every explosion going forward will be thermobaric if large.
Cluster bomb if small.
