As always, anticlimactic from Putin:
- Any attempts to start a mutiny will fail.
- An armed mutiny would have been suppressed anyway. Perpetrators must've known about this.
- By betraying their country, they also lied and forced others to kill their own soldiers.
- All the enemies abroad and national traitors wanted us to fight each other. They failed.
- The majority of Wagner commanders and fighters are patriots. They were used covertly against their brothers-in-arms.
- I made steps to avoid large bloodshed. This needed time including letting those who made a mistake change their mind and see the consequences this will lead to.
- Stability was possible thanks to the enormous support of civil society who united during the difficult time.
- Putin will keep his word regarding PMC employees (possibly regarding no prosecution. Some can go to Belarus, rest can sign contracts with MoD. The choice is theirs.

Why the teaser statements that Putin was going to make important statements? That just looks like confusion when the actual speech is five minutes and he doesn't say anything.

I think Peskov must be genuinely out it the loop.

BREAKING: Russian independent media outlet Verstka reports that a camp will be built in the Mogilev region of Belarus to accommodate Wagner PMC fighters
Versta reports that the camp will have the capacity to house 8,000 Wagner fighters
A source close to the leadership of the Mogilev region confirms that they have been instructed to build a camp for Wagner fighters
The information that the mercenaries will be sent to Belarus is also confirmed by relatives
This seems odd. What is their purpose or objective there? Why are fighters being sent to Belarus? If I were Ukraine I would want to keep a close eye on that.

What would you think if your leader said went on TV and said that the traitors who retreated from the battlefield and killed your troops now get jobs with the military if they want?
I think that would be saying a lot.

Per Lavrov: #Wagner will continue to operate in #Mali & the #CentralAfricanRepublic
For their part, Mali has instead framed their ties as military contracts with #Russia, not Wagner
Wagner's ops in Africa are ostensibly funded through the extraction of resources; however, equipment like SU-25s, Mi-8/17/24Ps, & T-72s requires direct support from RUS MoD or GRU
Mali & CAR both rely on equipment from Russia's MoD; however, the operations rely on Wagner
Wagner folks operating in #Africa include elite troops funneled through the GRU/VDV pipeline - even more loyal than the troops fighting in #Ukraine. MoD rank & file seem to favor Wagner over their own leadership
I don't see a viable path to integrate these forces into the MoD
It's easy to understand why #Mali's latest Junta would be concerned - their support will largely rely on what level of autonomy Wagner maintains & how these developments change (or don't) the command structure of the forces deployed to #Africa

Wagner in Africa
LINK
quote:
Thread
Wagner PMC is actively expanding its operations in the Central African Republic (CAR) and neighboring countries, beyond the scope of gold and diamond extraction. This is supported by my satellite imagery analysis and information from
@alleyesonwagner
project:
2/ In this thread, our attention will be directed towards a wood processing facility near Boda that not only industrializes the deforestation and ecosystem degradation in the area to extract rare timber but also facilitates Wagner's expansion into neighboring countries.
3/ In January 2021, control over Boda, situated west of Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR), was secured by both the CAR army and Wagner forces. Visual evidence in the form of obtained photos clearly depicts the presence of Wagner forces within the city.
4/ The work on the facility started sometime in the third quarter 2021, and was finished by 2022. Furthermore, the satellite imagery shows extension and widening of the runway, serving as a clear indication of the substantial investment and commitment made to this enterprise.
5/ Per AllEyesOnWagner project, russians established a company named "Bois Rouge" for timber operations. According to their website, they trade timber such as azobe, iroko, mukulungu, sapeli, and tali. They later changed their name to Wood International Group
6/ After expanding to Cameroon and establishing logistic platforms in Douala and Kribi Ports, Bois Rouge supplies rare woods to China, Pakistan, Turkey, the UAE. The full report is in the image description (ALT letters in the bottom left side of the picture).
/ As per the report, Wagner has managed to establish import and export channels for some of its products within the European Union (EU). However, it seems that certain companies, upon discovering their connections to Wagner, have ceased their associated activities.
8/ Wagner's activities in Africa consistently coincide with a robust information campaign conducted on social networks and news websites. This campaign primarily aims to portray Wagner and Russia in a positive light while casting France and the United Nations in a negative light
9/ In the second part, I will discuss Russian PsyOps across Africa, including countries like the Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Senegal. Wagner's influence in Africa is rapidly expanding, comparable to a spreading forest fire, yet largely unnoticed by the world

Russian intelligence services threatened to harm the families of Wagner leaders before Yevgeny Prigozhin called off his advance on Moscow, according to UK security sources.
It has also been assessed that the mercenary force had only 8,000 fighters rather than the 25,000 claimed and faced likely defeat in any attempt to take the Russian capital.
Vladimir Putin will now try to assimilate Wagner Group soldiers into the Russian military and take out its former leaders, according to insights shared with The Telegraph.

Apparently Putin has 1 or 2 more speeches planned? At least that's what it is looking like in the Twitterverse. A lot of the Pro Russian sources are making it seem like there is going to be some major announcement, but just a bunch of nothing burgers so far.

This whole situation within Russia is just very very strange.
It's almost like an alternate reality.
I still don't understand why Prig stopped and walked away so quickly. He could have just held his forces in place and kept his leverage. He gave everything up when he got into that car and headed to Belarus.

I think of the scene in Godfather II where Tom Hagen insinuates Frankie's family won't be harmed if he offs himself.

My competing hypotheses rn:
A. This has all been an elaborate ruse to explain Wagner forces showing up in Belarus.
or
B. Prigozhin is really REALLY dumb and yet he exposed Putin and Russian internal security weaknesses in spite of how dumb he is.
