I can't vouch for this translation but saw it in the Twitter comments.

Ukraine, native motherland, Lord, our heavenly father: bless us!
Going to destroy the enemies of my native land. Murderers of my brothers, rapists of my loved ones.
Let my hand be strong - to kill enemies!
Let my eye be clear - to kill enemies!
May my weapon be in good working order - to kill enemies!
Let my will be steel - to kill enemies!
Ukraine, native land-mother, Lord, our heavenly father: bless our resolute offensive.
Our holy victory.

Girkin accuses Prigozhin of preparing for a coup in Russia. He says the insults towards the Russian army by Putin's cook are unacceptable, and signal a rift in the elites which Prigozhin will take advantage of with his private army that is being withdrawn from Bakhmut. Girkin adds that if Russia misses the upcoming counter-offensive, the political situation in the country may become unrecongisable by the end of summer.

Brazilian President rejects Putin's proposal to visit Russia

Lula da Silva said this after a telephone conversation with Putin. "I thanked (Putin. - Ed.) for the invitation to the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg and replied that I cannot come to Russia right now," he wrote.

On May 22 Da Silva had intended to meet at the G7 summit in Hiroshima with the president of Ukraine, but the meeting was disrupted. In this connection, the Brazilian president said that he saw no point in meeting with Zelenskyy, because neither in Moscow nor in Kyiv "obviously want to talk about peace".

Earlier, Lula spoke out against arms supplies to Kyiv, accusing Western countries of "prolonging and encouraging war". These statements were heavily criticized, after which the Brazilian president first condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but continued to insist on the necessity of peaceful negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow

Ukrainian soldiers began training on Abrams tanks, reports The New York Times

"The training will take 10 to 12 weeks. The first group of trainees includes 400 people. Earlier, the US Department of Defense sent 31 tanks to Germany to train Ukrainian soldiers," the newspaper said.

In eastern Ukraine, many of the defensive lines built by pro-Russian and Ukrainian forces during fighting between 2014 and 2022 are now inside Russian-occupied territory.

This map update shows where these older fortifications overlap with newer defenses.

A few important notes on this map of fortifications in eastern Ukraine from 2014 to 2022:

First, this data only reflects trenches, barriers, and revetments built before February 2022 that are now within territory occupied by Russian forces. (2/8)

Second, Russian forces have not maintained or expanded most of these positions which dramatically reduces their usefulness when compared to newer defenses. (3/8)

Third, this data is not exhaustive and there may be older fortifications not shown on the map. (4/8)

Nature has overtaken many of the older defensive lines built in eastern Ukraine between 2014 and 2022.

Others are in better condition but still poorly positioned for the current front line. (5/8)

In several instances, new fortifications constructed by Russian forces intersect older defensive lines. (6/8)

In other areas, older fortifications have been expanded and upgraded since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. (7/8)

Check out the full map and several high resolution satellite images of Russia’s fortifications in Ukraine here: LINK

Ukrainians begin training on M1 tanks:

NY Times

quote:

The first group of about 400 Ukrainian soldiers started training in Germany on how to operate and maintain American M1 Abrams tanks, according to the Pentagon.

About 200 of the troops — roughly one armored battalion — on Friday began conducting what the military calls combined arms instruction at training ranges in Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany, Lt. Col. Garron Garn, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement.

That instruction includes basic soldiering tasks like marksmanship and medical skills, along with training at platoon and company levels, and eventually larger exercises involving battalion-size units facing off against one another.

The other 200 Ukrainian soldiers began training on how to fuel and maintain the tanks, Colonel Garn said.

Defense Department officials had previously said that about 31 tanks would be sent to Germany to be used in a training program for Ukrainian troops that is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks. Combat-ready tanks could reach the battlefields in Ukraine by the fall, the officials have said.

M1A1 or A2?

Export version like the ones we gave Iraqi?

If they’re transitioning an already established tank battalion over, this is at least somewhat of a feasible timeframe. I went through a battalion transition from the M1to the M1A1. Though I imagine the learning curve for these guys will be far different coming from T-64 or T-72s to the Abrams.

I think that operations in the Russian information space are beginning to have an impact. I think that the invasion of Russian territory had a big impact on this. Two striking examples from today:

1) Girkin says that Prigozhin is plotting a coup.

LINK

Amazing that Girkin can say what he says here. Do watch the video.

2) Russian TV guest calls for Putin's removal.

Newsweek

quote:

The anchor on a Russian state television show quickly interrupted Russian opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin after he suggested that Vladimir Putin be ousted from office.

During a discussion on the program Mesto Vstrechi (Meeting Place), Nadezhdin, who has opposed Putin's invasion of Ukraine, said that under the current political regime in Russia, "there is no way for us to come back to Europe."

"We simply have to choose different authorities to govern the country that would stop this story with Ukraine," he said on the show on NTV, one of the three main state channels. He believed that a different government would allow Russia to "build relations" with European countries and "everything will come back into place."

Co-anchor Ivan Trushkin tried to interrupt him, by saying that. "I was expecting you to say all of this, word for word," adding that his views were "boring."

Undeterred, Nadezhdin said that in 2024 there would be a presidential election in Russia, and that "we need to choose somebody else, and not Putin. Everything will be good then."

quote:

The other anchor, Andrey Norkin, insisted that voters would listen to what Nadezhdin had said, "and do the exact opposite" and in the crossfire of both speaking, Norkin concluded, "Let's pause things there." Newsweek has contacted the Kremlin for comment.

EDIT: I see Stormy already reported on a couple of the things I mentioned. Thanks.

Wow does this Washington Post story hit hard:

Russians snitch on Russians who oppose war with Soviet-style denunciations

Free Gift link

An excerpt:

quote:

Arkhipova said she and several university colleagues were all reported by an email address identified as belonging to Anna Vasilyevna Korobkova — so she emailed the address. The person identifying herself as Korobkova claimed to be the granddaughter of a Soviet-era KGB informant, who spent most of his time writing denunciations. She said she was following in his footsteps.

Korobkova offered no proof of identity when contacted at the email address by The Washington Post, making it impossible to verify her story.

The email writer claimed to be a single woman, aged 37, living in a large Russian city, who started writing mass denunciations of Russian opposition figures last year. She claimed to have sent 1,046 reports to the FSB about opposition figures who made comments on independent media blocked in Russia since the start of the war to May 23 — about two denunciations a day.

“In each interview I look for signs of criminal offenses — voluntary surrender and distribution of false information about the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” she said. “If a POW says, for example, that he surrendered voluntarily, then I write two denunciations on him — to the FSB and to the military prosecutor’s office. She boasted that her denunciation led to the liquidation of Russia’s oldest human rights group, the Moscow Helsinki Group, in January.

“In general, the targets of my denunciations were scientists, teachers, doctors, human rights activists, lawyers, journalists and ordinary people,” the email writer said. “I feel enormous moral satisfaction when a person is persecuted because of my denunciation: dismissed from work, subjected to an administrative fine, etc.”

And we think that we have a problem with "Karens" in this country.

Rybar has a new map showing the expected Ukrainian offensive towards Melitopol.

quote:

A couple of remarks about the counteroffensive.
In the Zaporozhye direction, roughly speaking, in the center of the combat order of the AFU grouping, the operational-tactical group "Marun" (LINK (from the Ukrainian "maroon", the color of paratroopers' berets) was formed, which, respectively, consists only of brigades of air assault troops.

Apparently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine plans to rely on the widespread use of raid detachments, which will strive after breaking through the tactical defense zone with infantry units to wedge in to the maximum depth without getting involved in battles for settlements.

In addition, the appearance of Maxxpro tanks and armored vehicles in the Vremesky direction does not indicate the strengthening of the defense, but the arrival of a unit from one of the strategic reserve brigades. The 23rd and 31st (LINK mechanized brigades have such armored vehicles.
Which, in fact, quite clearly points to another direction of impact.

Amazing that Girkin can say what he says here.
Girkin can say whatever he wishes because he is a first-person witness to Putin's order to use the BUK that shot down MH-17. He probably was the person that personally received the phone call giving this instruction. His testimony would be all the Dutch need to legally lay this mass murder at Putin's feet.
quote:

An international team of investigators said Wednesday it found "strong indications" that Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the supply of heavy anti-aircraft weapons to Ukrainian separatists who shot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in 2014 with a Russian missile. However, members of the Joint Investigation Team said they had insufficient evidence to prosecute Putin [so far...]
quote:

Russian officials say that a decision to provide rebels with military support over the summer of 2014 was in Putin's hands. A decision to supply arms was even postponed for a week "because there is only one who makes a decision (...), the person who is currently at a summit in France," the investigative team said, citing a phone conversation that was referring to Putin. Prosecutors said that at the time Putin was at a commemoration of D-Day in France.
The day after the BUK system was delivered to the Donbas, it was used to shoot down the airliner, killing 298 civilians.
Putin cannot be charged in a Dutch court (for this crime...), but victim's families would be able to sue the Russian government in civil court. If there's anything left after the Ukrainians are finished.

It certainly helps explain the deep support to Ukraine and leadership on providing F-16's that we have seen from the government of The Netherlands. Karma's a bitch.

Thought I read that Ukraine planned to send their T-80 crews to train on Abrams. The T-80 has a gas turbine engine and would be closer to the Abrams engine for the maintenance crews/tanker crews.

I saw probably 60 M1A2s in the old woodland camo paint scheme being loaded onto an MSC vessel in Charleston 2 weeks ago. I’d imagine they were heading across the Atlantic.

They are getting export version M1A1s without the special DU composite armor from what I understood. And the crews that were selected for Abrams training were T-80 crews because they both run on turbine engines. I imagine that has to cut the learning curve at least a little bit. I still question why every other of the big countries have sent main battle tanks but the French have held onto every one of their Leclerc tanks. They could have at least sent 18 like the UK did with their Challenger 2s and they had even less to give than the French do. Sure maybe the AMX-10 will be a nice mobile gun for the infantry but against another tank or ATGM it’s screwed.

They have a LOT of wheeled vehicles not just the AMX-10. These could move more rapidly behind the Russian lines after a break develops, is what was explained to me. Even behind 2nd line of defense to get to command posts rapidly. No command post and the soldiers on the 1st and 2nd lines of defense all have their fingers up the butts wondering what to do, now lacking any orders.

Considering what Ukrainian Intelligence stated earlier today is being prepared by the Russia Military at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant makes this Internet Outage very interesting.

The Russian military occupation of the Zaporizhzhia power plant is the scenario that causes me to lose the most sleep over this entire conflict. I really hope Ukraine can get this facility under control early on in whatever counter attack they launch.

The ZPP is also one of those scenarios that highlight the tragic rot on the American right. If there was some type of accident at the ZPP, there would be prominent republicans and a large portion of the GOP base blaming the incident on western intervention, nato shills, Biden, Ukrainian Nazis, corrupt zelensky, biolabs, globalists, and of course the Jews. Pretty much anyone other than the actual nation and people that invaded its neighbor, seized its land by force, and controlled the ZPP during the accident.

To quote the great LSU speed coach Boots Garland, transfer of blame is our national pastime.
