Aren’t they planning some sort of massive airborne operations? Seems crazy considering they reportedly don’t have control of the skies.

I feel like the west is doing that.
So you prefer the Chamberlain approach?

Is it weird I have more animosity for Belarus than Russia?
It's one thing to be the aggressor state trying to recapture old glory and hold off the growth and influence of an adversary
Being the pissant shithole bitch of that aggressor is arguably worse IMO

Enacting sanctions is textbook response for this scenario. Eta: he will claim it's escalatory and use it as an excuse for something bigger of course
Sometimes you have to act against what the textbook says to do.
I don’t know cutting off the banks and causing 1920s style bank runs that affect the everyday citizen of Russia who is going about their regular day. Devaluing their currency etc. it just seems like it’s a pretty big step of aggression
All this is being done by countries who weren’t directly attacked.
Can easily see where he takes this

The frick are they going to do?
Invade Ukraine? Oh wait already done it
They step a toe into Poland they get shredded.
The balkins probably is a red line at this point as well.
Even if he "takes over all of Ukraine"
He's done so while his entire economy is toasted and he'll get a nice fun guerilla war for his troubles.

It’s not like Belarus has much of a choice. They essentially are Russia.

Did I miss the outcome of the negotiations? You know, where the Ukrainians' security was to be guaranteed by the leader of the state waging war on them?

Putin basically threatened nuclear war on anyone that helped Ukraine. Not sure that's something to let slide.

The question is - do the Russian people view this as a result of their own leadership’s decisions, or as the West just piling onto Russia for trying to ensure its security?
A US correspondent in Moscow on CNN had some good insight the other night. Most common knowledge but she said it seems to be split around 50/50, the older generation is more pro Putin and buys in to Ukraine being a threat while the younger gen see’s past all the bullshite.

Kamil Galeeve Twitter thread
This guys twitter rant has been posted in this thread previously, but i find his views persuasive in that Putin has never actually gone full scale war. During his time as president, he’s engaged with Georgia, Syria, Chechens, etc – all small countries with little to no existential threat/risk. In a nutshell, Putin fricked up by letting Ukraine mobilize and improve their military after 2014, and as result has underestimated the Ukraine army

He's not going to take it to invading a nato country or firing nukes unless he has a death wish ( which he might)
You don't think the USAF couldn't shred these guys who are getting their tanks stolen by farmers?

Lukashenko was openly battling Putin like 18 months ago. Putin must have brought him to heel extremely hard, or this is at least partially voluntary servitude.

So what should have we done?
