I suspect that's correct. Screw the pensioners. They can't make trouble.

Without any real rule of law, they cannot sell bonds, sanctions or not. This is why even though with our debt in the USA, we can print money as needed to full demand.
In other words, why BRICS will never have a currency of its own.

They are likely going to try a battle of the bulge attack next, if that doesn’t work, and it will not work they are just super ducked

UPDATE ON UKRAINE
26 December 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Russian forces have largely focused on constructing defensive positions along many sections of the front line in Ukraine since October. This includes laying additional fields of anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, almost certainly going beyond Russian doctrinal guidelines.
Minefields only present an effective obstacle for trained troops if covered by observation and fire. A major challenge for the Russian forces will likely be a shortage of surveillance assets and trained personnel to effectively monitor large areas of the new minefields.

Lots of this chatter from a wide range of sources and all using different language so likely some truth. Many posts say it is the "Khalino" airfield where the Su-30s of the 14th Guards Fighter Regiment are based. This is the same base that was "hit" about 3 weeks ago where the fuel depo exploded.

I'll preface this with saying it's just my understanding and could be wrong
When they asked for volunteers the "states" had to pay for that, not the feds so the states just can't print money and don't have the budgets to really support it
And it looks like this might be the same case for the pension system per Wikipedia
quote:
Russia's pension system is paid either through employers, who take 22% of the payroll to accommodate for costs of pensions, by individuals themselves, who pay around 14,000 Rubles (218 USD) per month towards pensions on a maximum of 512,000 rubles (US$7,974) per year, or by regional governments who directly pay into the pension funds of their areas.

Pension system or some part of the banking system may have been hacked?
Yeah from within.
Pensioners get it first but the pain will filter up. For the elites I'm sure it was a much different Christmas this year than last.

This is an interesting read written by a Russian, discussing how unprepared the Russian army is for any Ukrainian Offensive.

quote:
Below is a translation of a long blog post by the Russian volunteer Murz whom we’ve covered extensively during the past several months. In this post, Murz, who has been previously critical of the way the Russian Army is conducting the “special operation”, goes over the potential of a Ukrainian offensive in winter and shows that Russia is completely unprepared for it in terms of armoured vehicles, communication, defensive lines, artillery, and manpower.
This is perhaps the most critical of his texts and was shared by Igor Girkin as “recommended for reading”. The author has a certain way of constructing sentences so we apologise for any misunderstanding while reading.
quote:
After leaving Kherson, the public, instead of soberly assessing the situation, began, with the active help of the media, military correspondents, and all other available means, to suck out the “positivity” from any bullshite, often demonstrating just the opposite – complete frick ups. A typical example of this, again, was in my TG – a video with grandiose music from the 127th division, in which Ukrainian grenade launchers are allowed to approach tanks at 50 meters. At the 10th month of the war. Unteachable. Moreover, no one is embarrassed by the fact that in the frame it is clear that the tank missed with a return shot – the shell passed over the trench and exploded off-screen. Loud and prolonged applause. Pew Pew! We attack!
Separate fierce frick-up are the constantly popping up videos from the 1st Army Corps of the DPR showing firing from tanks from closed positions, practiced on a regular basis. The horror here, of course, is not that tanks shoot from closed positions, they can do it, a good tankman should be able to do it, moreover, tankmen were trained for this in 2016-2017 and the KCPN carried manuals for this on the topic. The horror is that with the silent catastrophic lack of shells in artillery (you can’t talk about it, because then someone will have to answer for it, but no one wants to), it was decided to replace artillery with tanks on a regular basis. For tanks, shells seem to still exist. I am not at all surprised, by the way, that the well-deserved media prostitute Vladlen Tatarsky supported this “good undertaking”. More like not surprised. Then he will, with a completely innocent look, expose the consequences of this garbage and, wringing his hands, ask – “What kind of bitch ordered this to be done?” And everyone is like, “Yes, yes! Who could it be?”

I just can’t imagine the Russians will attempt any meaningful offensives in this conflict.
Even with the benefit of surprise and attacking on several fronts and from two international borders, their initial offensive largely culminated within weeks. They will never be better equipped or manned then they were for their initial offensive or have such operational clarity as they did in spring or 2022. Neither Japan nor Germany mounted any material offensive once they had to start defending their gains and I think Russia will prove the same here.
Russia moves forward in this conflict executing a primarily defensive phase where they try and hold what they have and terrorize the civilians into political concessions.

I thought you had a new update from Murz. We talked about this one 22 pages back.

It's a hilarious report, though. Murz can swear in inventive ways.

Yet another piece of evidence today that Russia is running out of artillery shells: a video of Wagner mercs calling out the military. LINK
quote:
Wagner mercenaries call Russian MoD's Chief of Staff "piece of shite" on camera. "You are a piece of shite ..where are the shells? We have no shells anymore here [at Bahmut]".
Prigozhin says he has "nothing to say about this video", essentially endorsing the attack on Gerassimov.

The Russian forces are going to have to retreat from the West side of the Krasna River since the Ukrainians are advancing quickly right now in that area.
