Ukraine to have its own fleet of drones soon.

quote:

"Our heavy machine of our development is not our only machine (UAV). This is the car we have already mentioned. We said "A" about it, namely: thousands of kilometers and 75 kg of combat load... Such a car will fly normally by the end of this year," he said.

He added that the first tests of such a UAV have already been carried out.

"She's already taken off, she's already sat down... This is a heavy machine, more than 200 kg of take-off weight. This is a development that corresponds to the tasks set to us byValery Zaluzhnyin early August. Then a list of tasks from the complex was set, one of them was as follows. I think that by the new year we will present it and show it to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As our only customer so far," he announced.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 3 November 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE

Russian soldiers serving in Ukraine are likely frustrated that they are forced to serve in old infantry combat vehicles which they describe as aluminium cans. In mid-October, in the face of Ukrainian offensives, Russian armoured vehicles losses increased to over 40 a day: roughly equivalent to a battalion's worth of equipment.

In recent weeks Russia has likely resorted to acquiring at least 100 additional tanks and infantry fighting vehicles from Belarussian stocks. Armoured units and artillery are central to Russia's way of war; the force in Ukraine is now struggling partially due to difficulties in sourcing both artillery ammunition and sufficient serviceable replacement armoured vehicles.

From time to time we veer in semi-related directions ITT and most of the people I’d like input from are regulars. If I need to take this to it’s own thread I will though:

Twitter - possible NSFW, but not graphic

Imran Khan was shot in an apparent assassination attempt while on a March to Islamabad to demand snap elections. The guy who took down the assassin is being hailed a hero it appears.

Twitter - FILA guy takes down assassin

One of you baws give me some good background on Imran Khan and what he’s trying to do? Appears he’s quite popular, but I’m not well versed on ME political specifics, especially Pakistan, and I know some of you are.

Asking in the context of both curiosity and recognition the world wars began with several different conflicts/events. Not going off the deepend, just curious and a semi-good student of history.

So if the military leadership is different from the political leadership, how is he so well liked by the people? I thought the general populace didn’t want terrorism etc, but he’s supported it. There was an estimated up to 2 million people at the March he was shot in.

Gay marriage is not legal in Ukraine. The irony is that Russia's invasion might very well end up eventually making it legal, because Ukraine believes that it needs the security of being a member of the EU, and legalizing gay marriage might make it easier for Ukraine to get EU membership. So, Russia's war is doing the opposite of stopping the gay.

The Russian invasion was supposed to overthrow the Zelensky government, stop fascism in Ukraine, bring Ukraine back into Russia’s sphere of influence, and now it is supposed to stop homosexuality in Ukraine. However in reality, the war has strengthened Zelensky standing in Ukraine and solidified his government, increased fascism in Russia, permanently alienated the Ukrainian people against Russia, and brought Ukraine closer to the west and further from Russia so the legalization of same sex marriage in Ukraine would just be another example of how the opposite of Russia failing miserably.

The important thing to understand about Pakistan is that much of their inspiration for organizing as an Islamic Republic comes from Turkey. Turkey is really the first nation to have a 'deep state' or a 'state within a state' where civilian affairs are directly controlled by the military (or at least they were). Pakistan is another example of a Muslim country where the military has excessive control. But Pakistan is a much more diverse country and the Punjabi elite are very much interested in their own affairs at the expense of other groups.

Imran Khan is a national hero in Pakistan because he led the Pakistani cricket team to the World Cup in the 90's. But he is also Pashtun, and is thus regarded as an outsider to the Punjabi elite, who are extremely wary of Pashtun nationalism displacing their important status in Pakistan. Indeed, that fear drove Pakistani interests in Afghanistan from the 1970's onwards, as the Pakistani's sought to control the Pashtuns well before direct Soviet or US intervention.

So there is a very large clash between the security state of Pakistan and the civilian state of Pakistan, that plays out over and over and over. Khan's dismissal as PM is just one example among a litany of other examples, as Khan was given a no-confidence vote by opposition parties.

Israel is more likely to send weapons to Ukraine and provide Ukraine with advanced anti-missile and anti-drone defenses. IIRC Netanyahu criticized Israel for not providing Ukraine with Iron Dome earlier this year. Plus Netanyahu is much more likely to be aggressive against Iran which will prevent Iran from providing weapons to Russia.

He hasn't really supported it, but the Punjabi elite are always worried about Pashtuns. They were so worried that ISI helped create the Afghan Taliban, and then has worked feverishly to ensure that Deobandi ideas don't spread further into Pakistan, in another situation where the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' backfires spectacularly.

Have any of you baws seen the footage of the trench warfare going on in the Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts? That shite is straight WW1 type shite. I would hate to be a poor grunt in that cold and wet environments. I really feel bad for the Russians who have had to resort to using foot wraps instead of socks because they don’t have enough socks.

Two-year term is very optimistic since most of those conscripts being sent to Ukraine will be killed within the first six months.

Probably going to sound dumb compared to your understanding, but is this good for Pakistan? Good for us? Is he their Trump, with regards to in some sense fighting a “deep state” within his country and was ousted over it, now trying to come back?

Could this assassination attempt create real internal physical conflict? If so, partly from what I’ve learned from you, it seems external govts may have a vested interest in the outcome here. India, ME friends, Turkey, China?

I've seen many videos of Russians killed or captured wearing sneakers. My feet itch just looking at it.
