I don’t know what Putin is going to hit back with but it’s probably going to be the biggest card he has left to play. He has no other choice with all this pressure placed on him. This is going to get very interesting.

He has been awfully quiet despite being almost totally isolated at this point. This endeavor has/is going to result in increased NATO troops & equipment in bordering nations. Germany arming up. EU closing their skies to Russian flights. Ruble dropping like a rock. Germany, at least saying, they’re going to move away from such high reliance on Russian O&G. Kazakhstan told them no. Turkey leaning NATO. China quiet.

Transparent wars can be a thing of the past that scares the shite out of me.
"Transparent wars" have only been a norm since the end of WWII. The lack of transparency/hidden alliances was the reason for the LON and its successor the UN. The difference today compared to even 25 years ago is that we are used to up to the minute reporting by the MSM and have been conditioned to give social media the benefit of the doubt.

FWIW, Western Civilization is the beneficiary of the flow of information out of Ukraine. Whether it's propaganda or not Zelensky has used social media to rally the country and inspire his people. We may WANT to know confirmed numbers and statuses but they NEED to have an inspired and motivated citizenry.

ETA: Transparency as it relates to alliances and major troop movements.

Russia has captured the port city of Berdiansk. frick

Port has the capacity to process an assortment of logistical shipments.

It would be very important for an assault on Mariupol

Looking at the geography of that city, an invading enemy could easily get trapped there.

Just a thought.

Part of me just can’t shake the feeling that things aren’t going totally well for Ukraine.

There are Russian troops roaming suburbs of like every major city.

I fear this is going to be a horrible evening of savage brutality.

They won't win. That doesn't mean I support Russia or Putin. But reality is what it is, not tweets, memes, and wishful thinking.

Kyiv is really close to the border, this isn't as fast as Russia expected.

Russian forces literally fell across the Belarus border and were 30 km from Kiev two days ago. They had the airport during the first day of fighting and then lost it. It's not quite what people think it is.

At the risk of sounding like goldennugget, it’s almost like western media has intentionally sought out stories to fit a specific narrative.

Winning for Ukraine has always been about inflicting maximum damage, destroying Russia's will to occupy, and getting international support. By that measure, they're off to a roaring success.

Also, as awful as it sounds, they're probably going to force Russia to use thermobaric weapons and inflect an absurdly high civilian casualty rate. As disgusted as people are now, international condemnation will get even worse.
