Russia is winning. This was a genius move by Putin. Declare he has won and call it a day.

Fortunately for us Hitler wasn’t as smart, or we would be speaking German. Hitler should have called a timeout in 1941.

BREAKING: China and India abstains in resolution at the UN to condemn #Russia's referendums in Ukraine

"India is deeply disturbed by the recent developments in Ukraine", #India's UN ambassador says

Brazil also abstained in the voting.

"The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be guarded", #China's ambassador to the UN says

"It is unreasonable to assume that the populations in areas of conflict are able to freely express their will. The results of such referendums does not constitute a valid expression of the will of the local population", #Brazil's ambassador to the UN

So they condemn it, but won't condemn it

I really don't think there is a more useless organization on Earth than the UN.

They never wanted Kiev

They never wanted most of Ukraine

They wanted the mostly russian portions of Ukraine in the far east

Which they are going to get

Its like no one paid attention and thought they were actually trying to take over the entire country

Get the Ukrainians to flee from the territories that Russia wanted to annex which are almost only inhabited by people that identify as Russian now

You could call it a diversion or whatever

They sure have a strange way of showing they don't want Kyiv, Kharkiv Oblast, or the portions of the Donbas they are currently losing. I mean they only wasted thousands of their troops, billions of dollars of equipment, their economy, and any thought of them being a world power.

@guardian
map showing how much of the territory Putin is “annexing” isn’t even under Russian control. The total territory is about 15% of Ukraine and includes major cities. Under Russia’s amended constitution, no Kremlin leader can cede territories once they are annexed.

From 2014

Notice how it mentions taking the exact regions they are taking. Also not trying to take Kyiv.

Almost like you could know exactly what was going on 8 years ago with even a 3rd grade level of education on the topic.

quote:

Moscow aims to influence developments in Ukraine by using Crimea and the destabilization it has inspired in the eastern and southern regions to force Kyiv to adopt an entirely new model of governance. Russia’s preferred scenario is federalization (or even a confederated republic), which would grant Ukraine’s regions—especially those dominated by Russian-speaking Ukrainians and ethnic Russians—far-reaching political and economic autonomy.

You're a perfect example of a low information poster making an arse out of yourself by trying to talk about something you know nothing about and probably don't have the desire/capacity to learn.

I find it amazing that the pro Russian side constantly pulls out obscure references without saying how they suddenly came across this information.
