Then why not go ahead and attack military targets in Russia proper?
And of course they already have - in Belgorad and in Crimea which Russia claims to have annexed 8 years ago.

Putin's watch collection is mainly Blancpain, at least what he wears. Blancpain and Patek always strike me as odd choices for a Russian oligarch since they usually prefer Ulysee Nardin.
The point is that, when you're trashing the West and its culture as evil, it seems a bit odd to be wearing luxury western goods.

Russia is now completely dealing in fantasy.
I agree but it’s irrelevant because Russia will defend it as it’s own.

In a way different than they have been defending Ukrainian attacks on Crimea?

Good point.

His rhetoric about using Russia’s nuclear power is now biting him in the arse. He has preached it for so long that the West now believes him.
Not unlike Saddam.

Well I guess it’s just a matter of whether or not you think he’s bluffing with the nuclear threat.

Right, it's just that Russia had already been threatening escalation for attacks on Russian annexed territory and you have to wonder what would be different here. Of course, there is something different - Ukraine is clawing the territory back. Putin could treat that differently (although even that's not quite right as Russia hasn't occupied all of the Oblasts they're claiming to annex), but I don't see how the west can allow him to invade and squat on any territory he likes and then just capitulate when he calls it his and threatens nukes.

At the 41 min mark he says that all agreements with the West, including non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, are cancelled. This may be why NATO and the US will be making statements at 12:30 pm.

The benefit of having the boomers near Russia is time for steel on target. The quicker the timing the more likely you are to be able to prevent the next wave of missiles.

#Putin is wearing today the beautiful Patek Philippe perpetual calendar, the current price exceeds €80,000, I had seen Putin before wearing the Gold version, but never in white gold.
Not a watch person, so why is he wearing it on his right hand if he's right handed? Is this evidence that he has actually lost his mind?

Russian fighters have no reason to violate our Air Defense zone either yet they do it constantly.
There's guaranteed to be US subs in "international waters" to ensure a quick response should they do anything.

He has always done it, it has explained it several times in the past, he does it to avoid the crown rubbing his wrist.

I really don’t know how China will play this. China benefits more from the chaos than without it.
Disagree.. China's rise has been on them positioning themselves as a player on the world economic field.. an escalating conflict not far from their border that diverts the worlds resources away from an already dragging world economy is absolutely not in their interests..

Interesting take. However, the “not in their interests” perspective doesn’t seem to jive with China’s implicit support for Putin up to this point.

I think Putin convinced China that he would take Ukraine quickly and this wouldn't be a blip on the radar screen.
Obviously, that didn't happen and now China finds itself on the wrong side. That's why we really haven't heard a whole lot about China during this war and why you haven't seen any Chinese weapons on the battlefield.
Didn't Xi just criticize Putin after their recent meeting?

Exactly how expedient can this "speedy application" to join NATO be?
I thought membership criteria specifically forbade countries from joining with outstanding border disputes? ("border disputes" may be potentially up for discussion, as technically speaking, Canada and the US have some border disputes).
