The Russian fighter, not observing the enemy, threw the RGD under his feet to be sure, and inflicted light wounds on him, which did not prevent him from reeling under the cover of the second deuce. After that, the DPR serviceman made an attempt to enter the positions, but while waiting for the enemy to the left, he met the second deuce from the right. After the enemy opened fire, he was able to successfully retreat. Actually, the Ukrainian side also made the same decision, since, apparently, it could not imagine that only one fighter was carrying out such confident actions on the other side.

What did he throw at them, a smoke grenade? It landed right at the other guys' feet but both just walked away.

The 18 HIMARS were shipped two days ago, order was already completed about 4-5 days before that from what I’ve heard.

Wow. That's awesome. It's also great that the Ukrainians are getting brand-new stuff. They'll still have that "new truck" smell, lol.

So that makes 34 HIMARS and 9 M270s. All the HIMARS coming from the U.S. stocks with 6 M270 from Britain and 3 Mars II variant of the M270 from Germany. Ukraine asked for 100 of these systems originally and now they are almost half way there with 45. Bad times coming for Russians.

Nordstream 1 may be permanently damaged

Forbes

quote:

Nord Stream 1 and 2 lie on the bed of the Baltic Sea and bring gas from Russia to Germany. Nord Stream 2 was finished last year but Germany never opened it because Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. According to German security officials, Nord Stream 1 may be permanently damaged by salt water that could corrode the inside of the pipes.

So the Russians haven't learned about anodes yet?

I guess not. It seems like the contractors would have thought that through during risk mitigation. I’m no expert. Any OnG people want to explain?

Saipem built it, if I am not mistaken. Russia lacks the ability to build such pipelines.

TL:DW, Putin blew up the Nord Stream both as a statement to Europe that it won't be getting any more gas and as an implied threat to the other undersea infrastructure in the Baltic. He expects NATO naval activity to ratchet up in the Baltic

Interesting. I suppose also an effort to divert attention and resources of NATO here vs Ukraine? Seems sort of dumb since NATO has the resources to patrol the Baltic and I assume successfully protect the new pipeline. Also draws further NATO resources closer to mainland Russia, particularly their urbanized West.

This is quite possibly the biggest conflict of our lifetime.

reports: "A suspected Russian sabotage attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines was “probably premeditated and planned for” using an explosive device dropped into the sea weeks before it was detonated, according to a British defence source."

"The most likely scenario, according to the UK source, was Russia secretly delivered an autonomous underwater vehicle with a payload to separate locations on the pipelines..[it] could have been launched off a small vessel such as a fishing boat months ago"

'“They could sit there for months waiting to be told to explode,” the source said. They said the device could then be initiated, possibly by using a noise source of a certain frequency which could be dropped into the water at a time of Russia’s choosing.'

Is this a suggestion that Putin may be dealt with by hardliners in the Kremlin who are obviously displeased with results or folks who disagreed with the invasion to begin with?

I'm not sure any of the hardliners actually have any power. All the people with real behind the scenes power in Russia are crooks and gangsters not ideologs. This whole affair has fricked their money and fiefdoms so their pissed. Problem for whoever takes over if Putin goes down is if your first official act in charge is having to give Crimea back that is not going to exactly get you a lot of popular support.

I honestly doubt we will ever know the truth about who did it. It's just a odd target for anyone because no one truly gains anything for damaging it when looking at the probable parties.

It will come out eventually.

I would suspect there is already an effort underway to recover the bomb fragments.

Russia would be stupid to stop sending gas through Ukraine. If it keeps sending gas through Ukraine then it can use paying Ukraine the unpaid transit fees as a carrot to try and get Ukraine to the negotiating table on Russia’s terms since Ukraine needs that revenue in the long run. Plus Russia needs the revenue from gas sales to Europe. Russia will definitely decrease the supply to try and squeeze the EU and it might even do some short term shutdowns but nothing long term.

Putin and other high-ranking Russians never considered that the world would support Ukraine the way it has. He has not accepted and its' made him delusion. He thinks if he just rattles the right sabers (nukes etc.) and makes Europeans have to deal with cold, then they will walk away. Honestly based on the actions of the western world in the last 15 years you can see how he got there.

You could make a strong case that the western world unintentionally trapped Putin and caused him to destroy himself, by being such huge p*ssies for most of the last 15 years.

Putin knows he's in a situation where either the west drops Ukraine or he's done. He doesn't care about the money for now.

Also the idea that Ukraine would do a Russian favored peace treaty for some gas money is silly. There not giving like a 3rd of their country away for a couple of bucks.

It puts every undersea powerline, communications cable and pipeline in the crosshairs, including the USA

Yes and the narrative softening after a suitable mourning period would work as well, Medvedev is only recently a hawk/hardliner…he would need backing from the right people but it would work.

Do you think the Wagner guy has designs on it? He seems like he's been on a real aggressive PR campaign over the last month ... To the point it wouldn't sock me if i heard he "fell out of a building"

From the official Russian Telegram Channel dedicated to the war.

??Russia is ready to issue an ultimatum to Ukraine and destroy the entire energy infrastructure with nuclear weapons ??

Information appeared on the network that British intelligence allegedly transferred secret data to the Zelensky Office. It says that the Kremlin, after the admission of new regions to Russia, will put forward a phased ultimatum to Ukraine.

If the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not stop the hostilities, then within two weeks the entire energy infrastructure of Ukraine will be disabled, and the second stage will be strikes with tactical nuclear weapons??

They write that the list of goals has already been approved. This includes CHP and transformer stations/power lines.

It is high time! The main thing is to hit as far as possible from our borders ??
