Anyone interested in looking at modern Russian warfare tactics on a fairly granular level the Grau/Bartles book "The Russian Way of War" can be downloaded at the link below. It is very well done and has some excellent explanations of the Russian tactics regarding defense which start on page 60. It explains their multi-layer BTG maneuver defense which is what I think they are employing near Kherson and probably the whole 300km front. It also illuminates their significant need for artillery behind the final dropback position that they may have problems supporting with shells based on what we have seen.

Local link, as Titus said, and you should edit it out asap for privacy reasons

No thanks. I do not trust the Russian military prosecutors office. If I gave you evidence and you actually did turn it in to the military prosecutors office I would not be surprised if they arrested you and gave the soldiers an award. Plus proofs have already been turned over to the proper authorities.
ETA: Ruff Fish if you are so willing to put your own neck on the line to make sure that justice is served to those committing war crimes you can take this video of Russia using white phosphorus munitions on civilian targets in Ukraine.
Yes, I am ready to do what I wrote above. And I know that we will be punished for this. If I lied and there was perjury, then they will punish me.
But you "possess" reliable data.
I read your posts here. Every single one of them affirms something in the first person and, surprisingly, there is not a single photo proof. How so?
Actually, it's not surprising. At the same time, you write that someone is lying, no matter who Yorsh, Russia.
Here on the forum there was also one participant who "had been" in Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Blown away quickly. Got caught like you when I started asking him for proofs. How do you not remember his nickname?
I saw this "chandelier" and not only me. Only then, when publishing this link, why don't you publish a dozen others that preceded the Russian one?
When the Russian Federation applies in response, is it already necessary in court?
And where are the links from you, for example, on the shelling of the HIMARS nuclear power plant or 777?

While Russia struggles to modernize its military, the US is moving forward with deploying lasers.
This is a just-published document about the deployment of Lasers on Naval combat vessels.

The Navy installed its first prototype SSL capable of countering surface craft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on a Navy ship in 2014. The Navy since then has been developing and installing additional SSL prototypes with improved capability for countering surface craft and UAVs. Higher-power SSLs being developed by the Navy are to have a capability for countering anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCMs). Current Navy efforts to develop SSLs include
the Solid State Laser Technology Maturation (SSL-TM) effort;
the Optical Dazzling Interdictor, Navy (ODIN);
the Surface Navy Laser Weapon System (SNLWS) Increment 1, also known as the high-energy laser with integrated optical dazzler and surveillance (HELIOS); and
the High Energy Laser Counter-ASCM Program (HELCAP). The first three SSL efforts listed above are included in what the Navy calls the Navy Laser Family of Systems (NFLoS).

Odd you should come back today, especially so late in the evening Moscow time.
Are you here to derail the active reporting from the Ukrainian front?

This is supposedly a video from Volokhiv Yar that has been rumored to be taken back by the Ukrainians. Personally, I don't know if real or not; however, as other sources also contribute images (Picture below) then it becomes more probable that it is in fact real.

If I recall correctly, Russia doesn't have as robust infrastructure to transport gas to India and China, and also have to compete with Iran and Saudi Arabia, who are both working to supply gas to that region. I've long suggested that the smart diplomatic play by the US would be to use Iran and Russia against each other, dangling sanctions relief for either to isolate one or the other. In this case, sanctions relief for Iran could fracture the Moscow-Tehran axis, which some Russian FP thinkers (including Dugin) believe is central to Russia breaking the American hold on the West Asian/Eastern European corridor.
I think the long-term reality for Russia, given their massive demographic issues, is to become the site of Chinese excess industrial capacity.

There is already some, and there will be many more soon.
In addition to the gas pipeline, many gas processing plants and gas chemistry have been built. China and India are going to buy out the entire volume of gas that went to Europe. You won't have to compete with the Middle East or Iran. There is not so much gas anymore, there is not enough for everyone.
This is one thing, but another India and China have become powerful suppliers of LNG and petroleum products to Europe!
I can't figure out where they can get these hydrocarbons?

Read at least your favorite wiki.
Russia is not trying, Russia has already put such flashlights into service since 2018

Yes read alternative information.

Any pipeline has to go across the Tibetan Plateau, aka Himilayan mountains or through Afghanistan to get to India.
Yes there is a pipeline being built to China to open in 2025.
When wells are not flowing they sand up in the bottom and need to be reworked. That is why it took a decade to get production up after collapse of USSR.

The US has been wargaming since this thing started. It takes a ton of staff work but since we arent actively engaged we have all sorts of staff types available for this.
No doubt that the US has helped a good bit, but I would not discount innovativeness of Ukraine and its human intel abilities. They recruited video game nerds to operate their drones, who don't know anything about strategy and tactics but they are hell on wheels operating drones

Reports of fighting now in Savyntsi...that is 16KM to the East of Balakliya. A 16KM advance in a day, the Russian military must be green with envy.

Link is fixed above for The Russian Way of War, I was in a hurry because I had a client show up early and grabbed it off my download instead of the link to ResearchGate. It is extremely well done and as someone mentioned considered authoritative within the military. If you are the type that gets a warm fuzzy feeling reading FMs and TMs you will be right at home.
I'll drop it here again:

Advances of more than 5kms are significant as they should result in the breakthrough off the multi-layered maneuver defense which is Russian doctrine. When I talked about the salient yesterday (?) it sent me to look for the Russian doctrine on defensive positions which lead to the Russian Way of War. I have found myself typing or almost typing Soviet doctrine each time, old habits die hard.
This is a typical Russian maneuver defense layout which is roughly 5km in depth from the security outpost to the rear lines.
These battalion-level defenses are designed to constantly drop back as they come under significant fire. This draws the offensive army into what is essentially a trap. The keep is the interior of the trap MUST be covered by indirect fire from the rear so you need ample supplies of arty shells. Hopefully, Russia is getting its North Korean shipment FedEx overnight but I hear the last mile delivery is a bitch.
