With the unguided missiles, flamethrowers, and hyperbaric missiles. I think Russia is about to say frick civilians and go all out to destroy lots of infrastructure.

And a senior U.S. defense official told Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin that the Russian military is not moving or fighting at night: Most movement starts just before dawn and occurs during the day because they don’t have night vision and are not trained in night vision, which contributed to slower than expected progress.
I mean, if you can't move at night and it is Winter with shorter days, how in the hell can movement be "slower than expected"? That should be obvious to pretty much anyone involved in planning the invasion. The Russians need to lay off the Vodka during game planning sessions.

Not arguing you, just bringing up they are lowering their use of nuclear power from 75% to 50% by ~2035, unless things have changed. Interesting that they are still building smaller reactors while doing this.
All good. Not intending to argue either, just discuss.
It is a change of course for them from what I understand. These new reactors would start coming online in 2034 if I remember correctly. I think it’s 14 that they’re adding to current capacity and seem to be trying to develop/improve exports of nuclear reactors.
I caught on with the uranium shortage a little while back and invested some in a uranium company so I’ve been keeping up with it much more than before which was basically zero. 100% not an expert.
Also, this is a major reason why Kazakhstan is actually important, they control 40% of global uranium production.

[CNN] Nearly 2,700 have been detained in anti-war protests in Russia since Thursday, according to monitor
quote:
A total of 2,692 people have been detained in anti-war protests in Russia since Thursday, independent protest monitoring site OVD-Info said Saturday.
At least 1,370 of them were detained in protests in Moscow, according to the same site.
Protests are ongoing in at least 27 cities, according to OVD-Info.
On Thursday, Russia's Investigative Committee warned that participation in any anti-war protest was illegal. It also said that offenses could be entered on participants’ criminal records which would “leave a mark on the person’s future.”

Until Saturday, Germany had clung to a longstanding practice of not permitting lethal weapons that it controlled to be transferred into a conflict zone. That stance bewildered some European officials, even more so after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a full-scale invasion and launched missile strikes on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital.

Time to go even more guerrilla and leave little presents for the Russian vehicles.

Have to say, the last thing I expected from this conflict is Chechens being proud to fight for Russia.

Surreal: a Ukrainian drives up to Russian invading soldiers, asks, did you break down, they respond, he says, maybe I could tow you back to Russia. They laugh. Then he tells them, Kyiv’s fine, many of your guys’ve surrendered. Drives off to only run into another broken down tank

It's wild.
It's crazy to think that the Japanese would fight for the US and vice versa, too.

Germany will be, quite literally, in the dark along with much of Europe if they block SWIFT access. It's essentially a suicide pact.
Pisses me off that the US was energy independent and was exporting oil and gas to Europe under Trump. We could be bolstering our own economy by cutting Russia out of the EU market and supplying them ourselves but potato in chief is too stupid to do it.
Oh and this is exactly why Trump put us in the position to be energy independent.

The current mindset of Putin’s underlings is an angle that I wish we had more insight to. The way Putin publicly dressed down his spy chief who was clearly hesitant (and possibly panicking) to endorse the invasion plan earlier this week was fascinating.
Putin still clearly has diehard KGB loyalists in his corner, but the way he was basically twisting that dude’s arm conveyed a sense of confusion and possible dissent about this whole operation.

[BBC News] I escaped Kabul, now I’m in the middle of another war
[BBC News] I escaped Kabul, now I’m in the middle of another war

Afghans who fled the chaos and fighting after the Taliban took Kabul in August have been telling me of their shock at being caught up in the war in Ukraine.
"The situation of Afghanistan when the Taliban took over was better than what I'm seeing here in Ukraine. We are now escaping again, but this time to an unknown destiny," says Haidar Seddiqi, a 36-year-old former Afghan military officer.
Seddiqi tells me how he woke for morning prayers on Thursday to find his refugee camp in northern Ukraine thrown into chaos as the Russian invasion began.
"It was all over the news. People started shouting until eventually the authorities in the camp opened the doors and told us to escape."
They walked for more than 75 km and made it to the northern city of Chernihiv, which is now a conflict zone. Seddiqi is now trying to reach Ukraine's western border to escape.

Mr Seddiqi says he was among 250 refugees left stranded "in the middle of nowhere"
Fazila Haidari, 26, and her younger sister were flight attendants in Afghanistan. They ended up in Lviv, western Ukraine, after fleeing the Taliban.
They have been waiting in Ukraine to be resettled to a third country. They have been desperately seeking help, contacting anyone they know.
"We thought it'd be safe here but look at the situation. I've been calling UNHCR and other organisations, but no-one is answering our calls," Ms Haidari says.
“I was happy that I survived the Taliban, but I'm now wondering if leaving Kabul was the right decision because I'm now in the middle of another war."
They have now left Lviv to try and reach the Polish border.
There are an estimated 5,000 Afghans living in Ukraine, including 370 who fled in August when the Taliban re-took control of the country.
