It’s the policies you’ve pursued, it’s the demographic replacement you dream of.

What made us great were our people, and our culture.

You will have the misfortune of living in this awful world too. And that is sad.

It’s sad for everyone who will have the misfortune of experiencing it.

[BBC News] Germany has backed imposing ""targeted and functional" restrictions on Russia's membership of the Swift payments system.

"What we need is a targeted and functional restriction of Swift," Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Economy Minister Robert Habeck said in a joint statement.

The government is working on how to "limit the collateral damage" of the restrictions "in such a way that it affects the right people", it added.

Germany is the last EU country to drop opposition to the sanction, after Italy's Prime Minster Mario Draghi and Hungarian leader Victor Orban signalled their support earlier on Saturday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was "grateful" to EU nations for the decision.

All good. Not intending to argue either, just discuss.

It is a change of course for them from what I understand. These new reactors would start coming online in 2034 if I remember correctly. I think it’s 14 that they’re adding to current capacity and seem to be trying to develop/improve exports of nuclear reactors.

I caught on with the uranium shortage a little while back and invested some in a uranium company so I’ve been keeping up with it much more than before which was basically zero. 100% not an expert.

Also, this is a major reason why Kazakhstan is actually important, they control 40% of global uranium production.

It seems like a good idea as I assume they could just “flip a switch” and turn them on for domestic use if needed.

I’ve followed the URA ETF for about a year now after reading about a potential uranium shortage. I had no idea Kazakstan was that important though, damn!

[CNN] Russian ministry says civilian involvement in Ukraine defensive effort will "lead to accidents and casualties"

quote:

The Russian Ministry of Defence has criticized the Ukrainian government for handing out weapons to civilians, saying it “will inevitably lead to accidents and casualties.”

“The Kyiv nationalist regime massively and uncontrollably distributes automatic small arms, grenade launchers and ammunition to residents of Ukrainian settlements,” the Ministry of Defence spokesperson Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said in a statement on Saturday. “The involvement of the civilian population of Ukraine by the nationalists in the hostilities will inevitably lead to accidents and casualties."

Despite Russian claims to the contrary, evidence suggests civilian infrastructure is under attack. Reports about apartment buildings and kindergartens being shelled, civilians being killed, and rockets being found in residential streets have been trickling in since the beginning of the offensive.

Social media videos, photos and satellite images analyzed and geolocated by CNN confirm that on several occasions densely populated areas have been hit by Russian forces.

European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic said Saturday he "most strongly" condemns Russian attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

Konashenkov also repeated claims that the Ukrainian military was deploying heavy military equipment in civilian areas.

“Our intelligence data continues to record the deployment of rocket and artillery units by Ukrainian nationalists in residential areas not only in Kyiv, but also in other Ukrainian cities,” he said.

“We call on the people of Ukraine to be conscious, not to succumb to these provocations of the Kyiv regime and not to expose themselves and their loved ones to unnecessary suffering,” Konashenkov concluded.

Multiple videos on social media of Russian military out of fuel, food and stuck on highways

From the comments

Soldiers say they are out of gas. Driver offers to tow them back to russia. Everyone laughs. Russian soldiers ask for news on how they are doing in war. Driver tell them that Ukraine is winning, russians are surrendering and impliest that they should too.

[FoxNews] International Criminal Court is monitoring Russia's invasion of Ukraine

quote:

The International Criminal Court's prosecutor has put combatants and their commanders on notice that he is monitoring Russia's invasion of Ukraine and has jurisdiction to prosecute war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Prosecutor Karim Khan said his office “may exercise its jurisdiction over and investigate any act of genocide, crime against humanity or war crime committed within the territory of Ukraine.” That's because Ukraine, while not a member state of the ICC, has accepted the court's jurisdiction.

In a warning that could apply to Russia's civilian and military leadership, Khan said that “any person who commits such crimes, including by ordering, inciting or contributing in another manner to the commission of these crimes may be liable to prosecution before the Court.”

He added: “It is imperative that all parties to the conflict respect their obligations under international humanitarian law.”

I wish we could get more confirmation on those reports that some Russian soldiers were told this was an information gathering mission or training session.

And a senior U.S. defense official told Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin that the Russian military is not moving or fighting at night

Interesting, I saw a correspondent in Kyiv this morning saying the opposite. He was high in a building looking out over the city from the middle of the Ukrainian zone. No damage where he is yet. And it was early morning and quiet. He said that all the explosions (and there are a lot) are at night, and then it gets quiet at dawn. He thinks the Russians are mostly limiting their fighting to the night because of their night vision advantage.

Fog of war.

[CNN] Russian thermobaric "vacuum bombs" launcher seen by CNN team in Ukraine

quote:

A Russian thermobaric multiple rockets launcher has been spotted by CNN team south of Belgorod, Russia, near the Ukrainian border early Saturday afternoon.

The TOS-1 or TOS-1A Multiple Rocket Launcher seen by CNN is capable of launching rockets with thermobaric warheads.

There is no evidence that thermobaric weapons have been used in the conflict in Ukraine.

These types of weapons do not use conventional ammunition. Instead, they are filled with high-temperature, high-pressure explosive. They are sometimes called “vacuum bombs” because they suck in the oxygen from the surrounding air to generate a powerful explosion and a large pressure wave that can have enormous destructive effects.

Thermobaric weapons have been used in Chechnya, with horrifying consequences, according to Human Rights Watch. Their use has been condemned by number of non-governmental organizations.

I agree that comment makes no sense because it seems the majority of the fighting has been at night.

It's just astounding to see such selflessness from a political figure today. I honestly can't think of a single Western leader in the past 30 years who would do something like this to fight for something bigger than themselves.

Honestly the way things are in modern times I don’t think it would even be up to the President whether to evacuate or not

It’s been made pretty clear that in certain situations the secret service will literally physically pick them up and take the President wherever they’ve decided he needs to go whether he wants to or not

I agree it’s unlikely they wouldn’t want to evacuate but I don’t think we’d ever really know bc I don’t think they are gonna have much of a choice in the matter
