There in lies the problem. Russia will never honor a peace and Ukraine knows it. If they don't stop Putin now their children will have to fight this all over again.
I will give you an example of how much you can trust the Russian in negotiations. The Minsk Agreement called for representatives from Ukraine, the LPR and DPR to send a predetermined number of representatives to meet with each other. Ukraine balked when they found out that the chosen representatives from the LPR and DPR were actually Russian citizens. They were not even from either region but from Russia itself trying to pass themselves off as citizens from the LPR and DPR.
You can't trust Putin and the Ukrainians know it.
And Merkel and Macron were the appeasers that tried to shove the shite sandwich that was the Minsk Agreement down Ukraine's throat.

What is never mentioned is just how damn corrupt Yanukovych was. He stole billions from Ukraine. Just go look at his palace that he lived in. Take a look at the armored SUV that his son had.
The shite hit the fan when he lied to the Ukrainian people and went back on his word to support the trade deals/partnership with the EU. He signed a pact with Putin instead and then was granted what amounted to absolute dictatorial powers. He then had Russian thugs brought in from Crimea and used them as sharp shooters to gun people down in the street. He fled to Russia during the night to save his arse from an assault on his government scheduled on the day after by the people. Putin invaded Crimea after the new parliament approved the trade agreements/Association with the EU.

I wish them well. But I must say it’s an odd move in warfare to telegraph to the world the fact you’re planning a major offensive and where it’s going to take place. I’m guessing one of two things are happening here.
(1) the Ukrainians are going to launch a counteroffensive, but not in the south. He could be saying this as part of a larger plan to draw Russian forces to the south and away from the real objective. I’m reminded by Allied efforts in ‘1943 to hide the fact they intended to invade Sicily and later in 1944 Normandy. A key part to both Operation Husky (Sicily) and Operation Overlord (Normandy) was convincing the Axis that the blow would land somewhere other than where it was actually going to land.
Or
(2) they’re not going over to the offense at all and this is pure misdirection.

The point being that neither NATO nor the USA has acted the least bit aggressive towards Russia, not even during the days of the USSR. When Bush told Putin that the US would back Georgia, a ceasefire was immediately agreed to. That was it nothing more.
BTW, how many Nazis has Russia trotted out before the public. How many of those biolabs they claim were there have they trotted out as evidence. The answer is ZERO.
Very recently when interviewed on Italian TV, one of Russia's most bellicose State TV hosts said that Russia would march to Transnistria and connect it across the south. The Italian TV host then said something along the lines of, "So taking the Donbas was all a lie? Do you really think that Ukraine is going to allow you to take that territory? That will never happen, Italy and NATO will back Ukraine." The look on the Russian's face was worth listening to his bullcrap

Ukraine is the most corrupt country in Europe. I don’t think there are any decent men in the ruling class.
When Poroshenko was president, he assigned state contracts to his companies.
Ukraine needed new patrol boats for the navy? His shipyards get the contract.
His got a lot richer while president.
Ihor Kolomoyskyi, Zelenskys sponsor, is another good example.
