Some seemingly good news for the first time in a bit:
Yes it is good news, but the Russian claims of a break through at Popasna were never confirmed by open source intel. They were only reported by pro-Russian bloggers and telegram accounts. So it could have all been BS from the get go.

They have clearly won in the areas they have focused on. Believe whatever Cnn cope narrative you want, but the number of Russian forces alone indicated that they had no clear intention of capturing Kiev. If you want to call it a loss to help yourself sleep at night then so be it, but reality will always win at the end of the day.
Sending over 30,000 troops and thousand armored vehicles (20-25% of Russia’s invasion force) is not a feint or a distraction. If you can’t understand that then you are either intellectually disabled or being paid by Russia.

do think the Russians expected Kharkiv politically to get in line similar to Kherson which didn’t happen
Yes Russia expected every city, town, and village east of the Dnieper River to welcome them with open arms. That didn’t happen any Kharkiv. It also has not happened in Kherson either. The population is not happy about a Russian occupation and it’s still mounting a resistance. The only reason why Kherson was captured without much of a fight is that the Ukrainian commanders in the Kherson region decided not to fight and were likely on the Russian payroll.

There have been protests in the pre invasion Donbas taken by the little green men. Russia is screwing them over. Not paying military recruits, etc...

Well is obviously not sufficient enough to capture Kiev. What is it then? I guess Putin is just a mad man gone crazy?!?

And they (Russia) prohibited citizens from leaving the occupied areas to enter into Ukrainian held territory. Putin issued thousands of Russian passports creating "Russian citizens". It was either take the passport so you could enter Russia for food or starve. This also created the " scenario" that Putin could claim that he was protecting "Russian citizens". He has done the same in Tranistria and the break away regions of Georgia.

The world would be a much better place without Putin. 22 Years of his shite. Say what you want about any US leader. After a few years they are just a memory. Put in had been in since Clinton was president.
I love seeing the Russian armor destroyed by volunteer militia.

Well Kiev only had 10,000 professional troops protecting it prior to the invasion. That gives Russia a 3:1 advantage over Ukraine. The general rule of thumb is that an invader needs a 3:1 advantage to be successful. So Russia did have enough troops to capture Kiev at the start of the invasion. Russia just f**ked the invasion up in more ways than one.

Are we talking about pre-invsion Putin or post-invasion Putin? Pre-invasion Putin was dictator who overestimated the capabilities of his military and underestimated the will of his opponent and the resolve of the west to stand up to him. Post-invasion Putin is a dictator who has realized that all of his advisors are just yes men who told him what he wanted to hear, and his generals and other military officers earned their positions based on how well they could put on a parade or a show performance at a military drill and how well they could help fill Putin's bank accounts. Now he is in the uncomfortable position of trying to figure out how to get out of the situation. If he can capture Severodonetsk then he can try and say that the special military operation was a victory and not a humiliation for Russia if he can convince the people to forget about the stalled the drive to capture Odessa, losing the Battle of Kiev, losing the Battle of Kharkiv, and tens of thousands of Russians killed and wounded in Ukraine.

So i guess that means NATO will keep bringing in countries until everyone is in...
And we continue to foot the majority of the bill....
Too bad Russia didn't join.... somewhat sarcastic...

Or maybe a mid level bureaucrat who rose to power and proceeded to destroy what was left of his country. The shortcomings of Russia in this invasion aren’t today’s problems. They are decades of institutional rot, mismanagement and theft.
Sadly for the Russians when you go autocrat and your autocrat sucks you are stuck. The best thing every American president does is leave the scene. I’m sure Putin’s eventual exit will be magnanimous for the Russian people and his successor

Many of the "rebels" to take Donbas from Ukraine, were an offshoot of the banned National Unity Front a pro-Nazi group. Banned per Putin. Just sayin...

That weak sauce propaganda again. Jeez.
The issue between Trump and other NATO countries had nothing to do with some central overhead budget that other NATO members weren’t paying into. That’s what stupid and gullible people assumed, but it is not reality.
The actual beef was that each NATO member state agreed to spend on its own military defense budget a minimum amount expressed as a percentage of each member’s GDP. Several of the members were not spending on their own standing militaries the specified amount. Trump made a big deal out of that and many republicans who had limited ability to differentiate fact from fiction assumed that what Trump was talking about was some sort of central fund that each member nation had to contribute to. There is a central fund but there is no deficiency there. The issue is the requirement that each nation spend a sufficient about on their own militaries as to not become a burden if group military action should be required.
The US does not “foot the majority of the bill” for the military budgets of other member states. We don’t pay the cost of France’s military, or Germany’s, or any other NATO member.
