Apparently flight 2213 was departing Lima this afternoon when emergency vehicles were rolling to another incident. While the a320Neo was rolling down the runway the emergency vehicle went right into the path. As of now it is amazing there are no fatalities in the plane. It is unclear about the emergency vehicle.

Scary stuff!

Under "Other angles" above, two fire fighters died, and two others were severely injured.
The sole runway for the airport is closed.

Looks like the pilots did a great job controlling the plane. Could have ended really bad being full of fuel.

In Peru? Last time I was there I didn’t see too many Get Gordon billboards.

The aircraft is substantially damaged: unclear where the right engine currently resides and the right main landing gear is of indeterminate placement as well.

I am going to start using “indeterminate placement” in place of lost in every conversation now.

One of the interesting things I've learned on this site is that many air carriers require the captain to taxi the plane. The new guy can (and usually does) take off, fly en route, and land, but hey, we're not just letting anyone drive our jet around the airport!

I know this wasn't a taxiing accident per se, but it just goes to show that the danger of an ordinary collision is very high at a commercial airport.

Imagine being the pilots rolling that plane down the runway in takeoff and some damn Peruvian fire engine drives right in front of you.

Many airplanes don’t have the equipment for the First Officer to taxi
