It saddens me that the time is near when no more of these great men (WW2 vets) will be alive

I got to see him last fall at the air show at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans. There are no words to describe just how much respect I have for him.

I met him twice at the WW2 Air Expo at Lake Front airport. He was a character. I’m currently reading his book about his times during the war. RIP sir!!

a mission that was solely designed just to get some positive news finally out of the Pacific theater since Japan had been rolling through everything up to that point
it ended up having a much bigger affect than anticipated b/c Japan over-reacted and started making some strategic mistakes that helped the US turn the tide
