haven't been to that plant in several months so not me, but I bet there are some.

That plant is a complete piece of shite when I was there over 7 years ago.

I was in an explosion proof control room about 6-7 miles away and it shook that place too. I have a few people in that plant that I know. This could have been a lot worse. Thank god it was minimal.

Question is, why didn’t the relief valve do its job?
You do know what an "explosion" is, right?

He’s talking about relieving pressure on a tank BEFORE it explodes.

It was the cat cracker in Norco. Overhead line developed a leak and the result was ignition of a gas vapor cloud.

From what I remember it was a design flaw where an injection quill was being injected straight at the elbow inside a 90 and it developed a leak over time. 7 employees were standing around looking at it when it let go.

Really? That's a long damn distance from Lake Chuck. You'd think Houston would have felt it too at that distance.

No, he's referring to the Norco explosion.

Sorry to hear. I worked down at Good Hope/Transamerican/Orion for a while. There was a purchasing agent that worked next door when it happened. He had a picture of his desk and chair, he would have been added to that number had he been there when it blew.

I dont know how much of this is the truth, but im hearing a Turner welder struck an arc on a supposedly cleaned, washed and empty EDC tank that was being torn down next week. I have pretty good pic of the fireball but its being a pain and not wanting to post.

I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t just have minor injuries if that was the case

You shouldn’t be able to obtain a permit to weld on an EDC vessel unless it’s recovered, all lines are blinded, and a sniff test has occurred.

ETA: Also, why would they be welding on a vessel that is going to be demo’ed in a week?
