White fatigue is real. At least white trash redneck types like these guys! Not atypical for Polk County though. Almost the norm.
I grew up in Winter Haven. Dad used to drive the boats through then Cypress Gardens (on Lake Eloise, which connects to Lake Winterset). My former brother in law worked as a detective when Grady Judd first came on the scene years ago.
Some of the "reddest" people you'll ever meet live in areas around there like Wahneta, Eloise etc. Used to be heavy Klan activity. Some worked for a business my parents owned way back in the day. Had to work with them. They minded their own business when it came to that kind of stuff, but you knew it existed and they were racist as frick. In some ways a different era. Really rural old South.
Up to 38 of the 50 lakes in the city are connected by canals. Cruising the chain of lakes in Winter Haven is very popular. We used to do it all the time. (no fights though!).
That part of the lake has a spring, so the water is pretty clear and there are sandy (unlike muck) bottoms like some of the lakes. It's become a popular hang out spot in recent years.
Grady doin' work in the 863!
