Thought some of you might enjoy. The fall foliage on the cypresses looked stunning, and the weather made for some moody lighting. One of my favorite places on earth.

I always wondered about the kind of people that live out there. Any of you know anyone that does this / or stays out there periodically?

Beautiful photos, thanks.

I always feel a little sad when I see all those stumps. There are some back in the basin that you could hide a car behind. I wish our ancestors would have left the big cypress alone.

I know some people that have a camp like that out there. Normal people. One is a lawyer, one is an engineer. Pretty much just a place for them to get drunk and eat when they aren’t hunting.

Damn good pics!…except for basin bridge. Reminds me a lot of Caddo Lake, which has one of the largest cypress forests in world.

The foliage in central Louisiana has been pleasantly colorful this year. It’s hit or miss some years. 2019 was the last time it was this colorful. The pecan trees are turning gold this week and last week the sugar maples started turning orange, gold and red. I mean its not Vermont but it’s pretty for this far south.

Took these when i went to the camp at spring bayou over the weekend. We definitely need some water in the river.

I took some of my yankee family on a swamp tour through the Basin over the summer. They were stunned at how beautiful it is. You forget because we live here but the landscape can be mesmerizingly beautiful.

Have you ever watched Atchafalaya Houseboat on PBS?

Great photos and thanks for sharing.

Drove the Basin bridge about 2 weeks ago. Water was really low and had never seen so many gators sunning themselves.

There are several beautiful swamps in LA:
Honey Island
Manchac
I-10 from Kenner to LaPlace

Great pics but all I can think is that there’s a bass at the bottom of every one of those trees. My brain is in fishing mode.
