Remediation guys were at my house off ham Reid at noon yesterday. Final verdict was gut entire house, will be moving everything I own into climate storage for I figure 12-24 months. Closest housing is Houston but it would bankrupt me because I can’t work that far from home. Currently we are working out of a trailer at office since it sustained major water damage on lake st.

Working off Ham Reid myself and that’s been the verdict on most houses we’ve seen. Good luck! Shelter insurance is paying people for housing and bills, renting them washers, dryers, and fridges. Shelter has been by far the best company I’ve seen during this ordeal so far.

As a commercial insurance agent I can’t leave and there’s no place to rent. Did find a 2/2 apartment that’s ready when power is restored but wife said she wouldn’t live there.
Meeting my adjuster Friday @3 and will discuss company paying me for 5th wheel the monthly note. Worst of a bad situation imo.

Donated. I'm really sorry you guys in that area are going through this struggle. It's tough I'm sure but I can't comprehend it. I live way too far north to.

If you want to get the most bang for your buck be sure to make informed donations. GFM has been a great vehicle on TD/tOT.
The Red Cross spends almost all of their donations on emergency preparedness programs (ex. CPR classes) and emergency aid. OTOH, the Susan Komen fund that corporations like to push has been almost the exact opposite. I know they don't apply to this but it's a good lesson before decided what avenue you want to use to help out.

Care Help is also a wonderful organization in Sulphur. My family has supported their mission for decades, and they do a tremendous amount of good for the community.
Also, I went into the Villa Maria neighborhood of Sulphur yesterday to help with debris clean-up, and I could not believe how bad it was. Debris was everywhere. A few houses looked almost totally destroyed, a few looked unscathed, and many had quite a bit of damage. Huge trees were down everywhere.
I was very impressed by how quickly the residents had started cleaning up. Most of the damaged roofs had been trapped, and most of the residents had already cleaned up their years or were in the process of doing so.
Also notable was the degree is community support. We were cleaning up at my brother’s house when a neighbor came by with a front-loader to help. That was a game changer. Cleanup went much more quickly after that. Kids were out helping, too. You won’t find any better people than the ones in SW Louisiana.

I’ve lived in Sulphur my whole life up until about 10 years ago. Now I live in Moss Bluff. I’ve literally never heard of Villa Maria neighborhood. Where is that?

It’s the neighborhood behind Kroger and Our Lady of Prompt Succor. The streets have names like Maria, Guadalupe, Lasalette, Fatima, Bernadette, Francis, etc.

Aah yes. I know where you’re at now. Just never heard it called by it’s name before
Peeej, we have moderate damage to the roof and inside to the floors and Sheetrock. But I’m doing way better than what 80% of Lake Charles is doing right now, so I have no room to complain or bitch about anything. A lot of people lost everything and may not even come back home to LC. I’m fortunate to have just what I have. I know there a couple more here on the board that is dealing with way more than me as well. Thanks for inquiring

Heading home after spending the last two days in Moss Bluff. It looks like a war zone. Every house has some sort of damage, many catastrophic. I’d say 60-70% of the trees are broken. We cut up two pine trees that I had to saw from both sides with a 20” chainsaw.
I’ll say this about the people of SWLA. They aren’t standing around waiting for someone to come help. Damn near every house already had tarps on the roof and debris out at the street. You can hear chainsaws our from sun up to sun down. Roads are cleared. Rouses is open and has ice, no craziness. You can get a hot meal at just about every church. Gas stations open with fuel.
This is the most storm damage I’ve ever seen, including Katrina. This should be a way bigger story than it is. Instead the news is populated by SJW bullshite. It’s not a story for people to help themselves.
