Am I wrong in thinking Louisiana people donated a lot more to a food bank in Ohio because of Joe Burrow than what is being raised for its own people right now?

No you are not and it’s a damn shame..... it’s been 12 days and from I have seen and heard that it’s still like a war zone over there... so sad.....

I looked it up and $510k was raised and the majority of it was from Louisiana residents or people from Louisiana originally. Too bad the same enthusiasm isn't there right now.

That’s the part I don’t get. Louisiana people are known for taking care of their own..... I know a lot of work is being done but it just doesn’t seem like it’s enough..... there are sooooo many people that lost everything and know here to turn. It’s heartbreaking to see....

You aren’t Stout, but I’d imagine the events of this year have people a little strapped. Sad we aren’t seeing people with influence bringing this the right attention. But when the governor goes and says “aww it really wasn’t that bad” why would someone like Burrow say anything up in Cincy? Too bad we don’t have a professional sports team in this state that could be advocating for this area instead of putting the names of criminals on their helmets.
Sorry man, don’t mean to derail this into political stuff, but it’s frustrating to see people do nothing to help especially when they can use their position to influence. Again, I posted earlier my thoughts from my weekend helping in Moss Bluff. The people of SWLA are awesome and definitely busting arse to get their lives back together. And that’s not exclusive to certain areas or demographics.

Got to St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church Saturday after lunch.
This is what we cooked.
Saturday
Jambalaya(70 pounds of rice)
Sunday
Jambalaya(175 pounds of rice)
Hamburgers and hotdogs(<>600 total)
Monday
Jambalaya(140 pounds of rice)
Hamburgers and hotdogs(all we had but not sure of total)
Altogether about 2500 meals. Just in my group.
Several groups from Ascension Parish are making the journey to help feed the people affected. I only saw a small portion of the area but what I saw was not good. I will be back to help at some point soon.

Appreciate what you’re doing.
I found a group of linemen today to find out what they’re up to tomorrow and I’m going to treat them to pizza for lunch instead of the shitty sandwiches they’re eating.
Those guys are working 16 hour shifts and I know it sucks. I just feel like I should give just a minuscule something to some of these guys for busting their asses.

I was in the area south of the casinos. When we left yesterday, I saw utilities workers on EVERY road working to get power restored.
Once that happens, those people will be able to get some rest at night for the long road back to normalcy.
