Columbus Ohio is seriously talking about an "outerloop" to go outside of our current outerbelt

LC has one because they had a man with the fore sight to build it before it was to populated to do so. Just think how much it would cost to buy out the people to build it. Then some will not want to sell and others will demand 5 times what their property is worth. And there will be bleeding hearts for all these people and threads started about gov. taking their property. Oh what a mess

It ain't even all of EBR that wants a loop. The folks in Central don't want one.

Blame the state politicians, the "new" bridge was suppose to bypass BR in 1969, between Brusly and Addis. But no, they moved it downtown for their ease of travel.....

Not getting a loop without building another bridge across the Mississippi.
Unfortunately, the state decided that spending a half billion dollars on a Mississippi River bridge connecting St. Francisville to New Roads, (total population between the two cities is than 7,000 people), to replace a single ferry boat was more of a priority than trying to help ease traffic congestion on I-10 through Baton Rouge.

6:30pm and 10 east between Siegen & Highland is a motherfricking parking lot!
ETA: Idiot drivers can't ignore a minor fender bender that blocks 1/3 of lanes causing delay.

Audubon Bridge---Waste of money. Passed on it today from St Fran to New Roads at 8:45am. I counted 2 whole cars going the other way and no one passed me.

It amazes me how every time I would go back to houston there would be a new 4 lanes added to the highway in 3 months but it took years to finish the I10 I12 split

Easy solution, Toll Road.... Thank me later. The gas tax doesnt generate enough money for major road projects anymore. If you want a new major highway, it needs to be a toll road.

baton rouge had a loop. it called airline hwy to the old bridge. It was never completed and baton rouge has killed many projects over the years that would have brought it up to interstate standards. also, everyone who wanted a traffic signal was given one and hundreds of driveways to go with them. the best thing for the city would be to work toward completing airline hwy as originally intended from 12 to the old bridge.

Here in Montgomery there is a toll fee. I can't understand why I have to pay a couple of quarters to drive down a road. The toll gates actually have people working like the toll booths they had going from New Orleans to Slidell.

Politicians are to blame for most traffic woes.

Land costs, the urban area of BR to the North & South of town was/is more prohibitive.
Here's a novel thought: the shortest distance between two points is what? A straight line.
How about building a long flyover with no exits from Livingston to West BR Parish directly above the present I-10 corridor. Locate the river crossing bridge just South of the present I-10 MRB.
In effect you'll have a twenty mile bridge straight East-West across The BR metro area. Put the sumbitch up high and only have a couple emergency vehicle on/off ramps. Build crossovers for accidents and contra-flow.
You're welcome in advance.

Somebody said something about a loop?

BR does not need a full loop. They need another major East-West freeway and they need another MS river crossing to get people to the west bank plants. Further, the I-10/I-110 intersection needs to be blown up and rebuilt (in all honestly, that intersection all the way to Acadian needs to be redesigned).
1) Close Washington Ave exit and redesign/add concrete to extend the outside lane further down I-10, to merge it in later down the road.
2) Build a 4 lane toll road down the middle of Florida from Foster to the Amite River. Limited on/off ramps. Future phase would take it closer to downtown but will need some land appropriation.
3) Build a 4 lane toll road with limited service roads starting at I-12 near Walker, and going south through Livingston and Ascension Parishes, and hitting I-10 just east of Gonzales. Phase 2 goes from that point south and crosses the MS River and ends at LA 1.
I don't think the problem is interstate trucks using the interstate, I think it is locals using the interstate as a local road, due to lack of local alternatives.
