What's the cheapest way to get to and from (aside from walking)? Leaving for NYC next week and looking to save a little bit on transportation while I am there.

TIA!

I go from LaGuardia to 87th and Broadway on the Upper west all the time and it is only about $30 for a cab

You can take the M60 bus from LGA to Broadway and Cathedral I think. Or you can get off at 125th and Central Park West and take a downtown B/C.

Have fun. Probably take you 2 hrs plus you gotta deal with luggage.

What time of day? Cab will be the easiest. And sometimes you can split it with someone going your way. You could also use uber pool and that will save money. Otherwise you could take the select bus or the bus to the subway. Either will take you 3x the amount of time to get there at best. Likely longer.

ETA: if you can't afford to splurge a bit on a cab for convenience then good luck being in NYC for any extended period of time

Translation - Take the freaking $30 cab ride and be done with it.

If you're alone you can save a few bucks and do the Super Shuttle, but if you got two or more people, that ain't worth it either.

Cab will be quicker, maybe not cheaper. Depending on what time you land, cab can get close to $40 to the UWS if you inlcude tip. Unlimited Metrocard is $31 but from LGA, its over an hour trip. M60 to the 1 train to the UWS.

Just my take

Get a metro card if you are going to be riding busses and trains.

Catch the M60 bus right outside the terminal. Take that to 110th Street in Manhattan. From there you should be able to catch a train or another bus to where ever you are going on the Upper West Side. It will take you a while, but it should be a lot cheaper than a cab.

It will take over an hour longer and save him $20. 20 freaking DOLLARS If he is willing to go on a 2 hour quest to save $20 NYC is going to be a miserable experience

Ok so rush hour. There will be plenty of bus and subways. If you don't mind, round about where UWS? Because UWS is pretty big. And will you have just one suitcase to deal with?

The OP said he wanted cheap, he didn't say anything about quality or speed
