You think we like having places like carencro,youngsville, Opelousas, new Iberia, Rayne, etc included when people talk about Lafayette?

Why don’t they just call it what it is then? If the place is in Rayne then say Rayne. Not that hard. Acadiana is such a broad term it could mean Ville Platte it could mean new Iberia.
That’s like everyone within a 70 mile radius of Baton Rouge referring to their town as part of the BR area. It’s just silly.

I've always kind of rolled my eyes at fabricated terms, acronyms, just about anything the whippersnappers come up with to try and be hip or cool, but "Acadiana" has been used forever to describe the region, I think it's in the books, like the "Florida" parishes
ETA: Acadian is where the term Cajun devolved from
