Some good economic news for the area. Great to diversify the economy away from primarily oil and gas

You've never heard "Metro BR" used?

Acadiana has been used forever.

The overuse of this term is annoying. It’s Lafayette. Call it Lafayette. Quit trying to sound bigger than you are.

When it comes to the job market, employees would come frome the greater area- not just those living in Lafayette city limits

People do not refer to the Florida parishes nearly as often as Acadiana is referenced. The news in Lafayette literally says live from Acadiana. As if that is an actual location.

It just seems like it’s a little try hard. Very similar to the whole “Louisiana” vs “ULL” Thing.

I mean, they do cover stories from every parish in Acadiana.

Acadiana is a geographical region. It has been referred to as Acadiana as long as I can remember (born in 62). There is even a high school in the area called Acadiana High opened in 1969.

In 1971, the Louisiana State Legislature officially recognized twenty-two Louisiana parishes and "other parishes of similar cultural environment" for their "strong French Acadian cultural aspects" and made The Heart of Acadiana the official name of the region. The one-word place name Acadiana is generally to refer to the region. The official term appears on regional maps and highway markers.

Why are you so put off by the term? Some Cajun baw run off with your wife?
