pushing for gay marriage (two consenting adults) and turning a blind eye to pedophilia (child rape) are two completely different things. If you use the bible as a metric for morality your gonna have a bad time lol

I can't vouch for the validity of this, but a friend of mine told me that there is a story in the Old Testament about this old man who was being made fun of for being bald by 42 kids. The man prayed to god that the kids should be punished and god made a bear go kill all of the kids.

It definitely made me lol

Elisha and the two bears. 2 Kings 2:23 to 25

quote:

23 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” 24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.

I'm not Roman, but I think the host and wine are turned into the body and blood of a live guy. Mystery not magic.

Not believing it just makes you an unbeliever. You don't have the religious or ecclesiastical authority I'm thinking to be a heretic or a schismatic.

Bruh, you are a lost cause and YOUR God is an a-hole if he thinks like you. With all the murder, starvation, genocide, and general suffering going on in this world, you think an an omniscient God is concerned with consenting adults?

According to Roman Catholic canon law, a schismatic is a baptized person who, though continuing to call himself a Christian, refuses submission to the pope or fellowship with members of the church. Other churches have similarly defined schism juridically in terms of separation from their own communion.

Actually one of the main reasons I am now a Methodist.

We have our own issues, though, like the push to allow gay clergy and recognize gay marriage. The people who push that crap are almost as bad as the pedo priest defenders. Both are acting contrary to what the Bible teaches, IMO.

No troll but serious question.

I get your issues with homosexual clergy and same sex marriages, but, to clarify, your objection to the Roman Catholic view of Holy Communion is that it's unbiblical?

Not to get esoteric, but is your objection to extreme narrow view they hold of the "real presence" or is it the general idea of the "real presence" however loosely defined it might be?

Because it's difficult for me to read the scriptures, the Church Fathers, and, faithful orthodox theologians and not see that aspect of Holy Communion as biblical.

Good point on Canon Law.

I was making an unwarranted assumption.

He may very well have become a Protestant however unlikely that might seem.

I guess I would be more of a Heretic than a Schismatic. I am not a Christian any more.

The Catholic Church should have been exiled from the country when all this came to life decades ago. Property could have been held in trust by parishioners until a order was formed to replace them (locally or nationally). The Vatican should have been prosecuted in World court for mass extortion, rape and theft. Relics and wealth redirected back to all those Nations they robbed. I just don't get how they are getting away with this. 10's of thousands abused and raped (just in the US). Not to speak of all the suicides, broken homes and criminals this spawned. No other business, church or government would have survived this.. I still have no idea how people can identify with this institution..

Priest Accused of Molesting Minor in St Landry Parish

I was going to post this and saw this thread, but then realized this is two different stories.

WTF is wrong? It is really hard to trust the Catholic church when you see all of this shite.

I don't see why anyone would go to them for any type counseling or advice.

They live a very sheltered life and have very little real world experience.

it publicly came to light that the founder (Father Maciel Maciel) had been banging the maids and mexican kids but it was known privately to the church/bishops/cardinals/pope for some time and they stayed hush about it

This sounds suspiciously like a telenovela on Telemundo.
