We are talking about a piece of wood that the house speaker took. As if something is actually going to happen to Shexnayder.

Historical artifacts are much more than that, saunter your dumbass onto a Naval ship and try walking off with its Plank if you think that just being a piece of wood is some kind of excuse to the arse kicking you'd get. I am all for POS's like Shexnader getting the book thrown at them if they as much steal a box of trashbags from the janitors closet.

Looks like someone doesn't like her asking questions about the Cypress Slab Caper(tm).

ETA: A man with a rifle was walking around trying to find her office. He was taken into custody.

Now imagine if the plank of a naval ship was given to me to use. Would I get my arse kicked walking off the ship then? This was over a year ago and they are just now concerned about this. But hey, I'm the retarded one here.

This is LA politics in a nutshell. They all care about issues that don't matter.

More likely used to repair/replace rotten dock boards. A 2x12x16 CCA treated board is @$75. Cypress would last a long time.

Because you're guilty of stealing the board

I can't even understand the inscription on the board, I mean, what does "49 inches measured the narrow way" mean?

Except here it's just the word of Shexnayder and apparently not true so...

...yes, you would.

The family related has been making requests, looks like they finally had to get the issue elevated because Shexnayder is a dishonest sack of shite.

So everyone should just look away rather than actually trying to hold our politicians accountable?

So following your clue.. it’s either at an airport or in the sky.

Or it was “planed” down into something else.

Former House Speaker Clay Schexnayder was indicted Wednesday by a Baton Rouge grand jury related to the disappearance of an ancient cypress board that was last seen in his legislative office in Gonzales. The indictment says Schexnayder "knowingly and intentionally committed theft of a rare Louisiana state artifact," leading to a charge of felony theft greater than $25,000. It also says he has been charged with malfeasance in office for "intentionally refusing to perform a duty required of him as a public officer or employee." Schexnayder could face up to 25 years in prison and a $5,000 fine, according to the Attorney General's Office, which brought the indictment in East Baton Rouge Parish. Under typical procedures, Schexnayder would be arrested or turn himself in voluntarily. The board, which was displayed at the State Capitol for decades, vanished from Schexnayder’s office last year as he was ending a 12-year term in the House, the last four as the Republican speaker of the 105-member chamber.

The Narrow way means measured at the narrowest part, when trees aren't round. That would be at the top of the tree's most usable part. If I get time I'll take a photo of the picture of the bottom when it was cut. It was massive.

my grandmothers water cistern was torn down in the early 80's and I salvaged several of the 3 x 18 x10 foot boards and 8 of the barrel staves. Cooperage quality boards sound as the day the trees were cut 75 years earlier. Made great coffee table, and fireplace mantles. Cypress is to soft for cutting boards. If you see a disused Louisiana water cistern, ask the owner very nicely about removing it free of charge. its a treasure.

It would make one helluva nice table, or maybe several smaller ones.
