It technically never ended. 66-year cease fire but no peace treaty

I knew old guy fought in Korea, took 6 separate bullets, bayonet through an arm. face was burned, frostbite feet.Ran his business until he was 80,paid into SS all those years but refused to ever apply for SS benefits.Wife said he was bitter about all the wounds he suffered and all his friends that died and US just walked away.He would say he didn’t want a damn thing from US government.

If China had just stayed out of it, Pyongyang would be right up there with Seoul as a major world class city and a unified Korea would rival a whole host of countries for economic strength including Japan.

To be perfectly honest, if the US and other European powers had gone full Roman on many of the territories colonies they took, the whole world would be a better place.

Half-assing brings nothing but pain with no gain.

General MacArthur recommended to Harry Truman that they nuke the invading Chinese to beat them back and ensure they don't have the balls to go down south again.

President Truman fired the General instead and that is one of the biggest mistakes in American history as it lead to 70 years of suffering in North Korea and a dictatorship that's constantly a thorn in America's arse and threatening American allies.

Macarthur was insubordinate. He left Truman no choice. Anyway, Macarthur should have already been sacked for ignoring his own intelligence staff and letting the Chinese nearly overrun him.

The USMC and Troops that fought at the Chosin Reservoir were tough as nails.

Great song.

We don’t get many John Prine references around here.
