Are you a "small government conservative"?

Why do you trust the state to murder citizens if you presumably don't trust them to do other activities?

Did it ever come to light why the roommates didn’t call 911 until 7 hours later?

Just drunk college kids sleeping in?

They also said they thought one of the girls was “passed out” but the police report states there was blood splattered all over the walls.

I'm frickin right in this thread. Stay mad.

I’m not mad at all. I also don’t think there’s a “right” or “wrong.” Just trying to understand different sides.

You have not coherently argued why the plea deal is bad

I haven’t argued it’s bad or good.

You know nothing about me. At all. And you clearly haven’t read my posts in this thread. I have merely conceded there are conflicting interests between not just all parties, but inside certain parties themselves.

I didn’t see you during World Series run. Glad to see you’re still above ground and breathing.

Why?

Because they take the wishes of victim’s families into account all the time when making decisions like this.

They got justice in the most expedient and prudent manner and will cost the taxpayer less money as the death penalty is much more expensive.

Do you know this for a fact?

They have acheived conviction and life in prison without parole with no trial. The plea deal accomplishes all goals of the justice system.

So why does the death penalty even exist?

Idk. I would like to read about the crime scene but I assume that info will never be released. Would also like to read the autopsy reports. Morbid curiosity.

And not a certainty by any means. Juries are unpredictable.

If I were him I would be requesting the death penalty, not taking a deal to avoid it. Big Bubba is going to have that guy’s a-hole the size of the Grand Canyon and he will get passed around like an appetizer at a party. The family should be given a way to watch this frick be a jailhouse pocket pussy for the rest of his life.

Though, he’s not technically a serial killer unless he’s killed previously and went uncaught.

with the way he went about t his , planned it out, definitely enjoyed it, I am certain that it was a matter of time before he did it again if he got away with this. If they hadn't caught him he would have killed more.

Executions have been around as long as civilizations have been able to create laws. We've just gotten slightly more "civilized" in what we deem is worthy of the death penalty and how we handle it.

Selfishly, I wanted to follow this trial and see what all came out. However, I hope all the immediate family members of the victims signed off on this and are at peace with this decision. If they don’t want to go through the trial and want to get closure now, I can’t blame them. Kohberger will get what’s coming to him…

As someone who’s family was very directly Impacted by murder and the death penalty, I’d bet money that the families of these victims are largely upset today that this piece of shite will spend forever in prison instead of facing capital punishment. There is very much a large “closure” aspect to the DP that really does help the families and give them relief.

Have you ever told this story on TD?

Reading this now and it makes my previous posts not make any sense. But neither does why the prosecution decided to do this and do this now? Weird.

Solid correction.

Perhaps it had to do with the cost of the trial. I’d be pissed as well if that was my kid. Maybe he was waiting to see what the cops had in discovery before making that determination. Regardless, I think we can all agree he should burn in hades

Sure, the state prosecutor is agreeable to the "life in prison; no death penalty" arrangement, but does the judge have to honor that?

Couldn't the judge still sentence him to death, like Kohberger did to four students?

I may be getting mixed up, but wasn't it this one where his family called in the tip that THEY suspected him? That's got to be hard/interesting...thinking your son/brother is a serial killer...

I think they had so much evidence on him, he didn't stand a chance. Documentaries I've seen had so many witnesses, car/phone footprints, online records he was watching them all on Instagram etc. They knew his every move.
