Haven't followed this much after the plea. Are they charging the dad for anything for conspiring with him to get out of the state and hide?
Dad legitimately didn't know and I believe cooperated once he found out.

I want to know what his motive was. Was it just to kill popular, pretty girls? If that was the reason, how did he find these girls? He lived/worked on a college campus- why not kill a WSU student?
He's sick so don't expect any of it to make sense, but he found them and fixated on them. Obsessively stalked them on Instagram and drove past their house often IIRC. Was probably jealous of them and wanted to be accepted by/with them, as they were pretty and popular.
He has no remorse and I think he is too evil to process any of these victim statements. I guess the statements are really for the victims reading them, to process and verbalize their feelings about the loss, but if anything, he probably enjoys hearing about the pain he caused and getting the attention and fame.

I am not sure how I would act in this situation but I don't think I would be as calmly speaking as this sweet lady. I would prob say some pretty nasty insults to him and make him feel like the loser he is...hopefully get under his skin. I assume you can say whatever you want at this thing, right? Cuz frick this dude.
I would potentially forgive him publicly to throw people off my scent and behind the scenes be planning a jailhouse hit for money.
Or I'd call him a weird loser that no one loves and remind him he'll spend the rest of his life in a cage surrounded by evil and have a miserable existence.
Can't say which.

The Goncalves family was vocal about their disagreement with the plea agreement. Initially, they said they weren't going to attend this, but obviously they did.
The Kernodles didn't agree with it either.

I’ve spent a little time on the inside and although I know that there are definitely people locked up that would do the deed, I have no idea how a complete outsider could arrange it without leaving behind recorded phone calls or at minimum, at least 2 people that knew your plan. I think the odds of getting caught are pretty high.

you were downvoted to hell, although I imagine many, many people clicking the thread also have no clue who this is and in 5 pages no one has mentioned it still.
You're not alone solider.

I read that he will likely be in solitary confinement because of the risk that other inmates would try to harm him. He would be in his cell 23 hours a day.

Did Ethan's family not speak or did I just miss that they were speaking?
ETA: I just read that they said they'd gotten closure and would not attend.

I'm interested in the family and what they knew/suspected... Were there ever signs this could happen? How do you raise a child that turns out to be a serial killer or mass murderer? Would love to see a study on this and all the nature/nurture aspects. Did anything traumatic, abuse, etc ever occur in his childhood? He was studying criminology (?), when did he get interested in that? etc.

I think he had to be a strange kid, but I doubt they had any idea he was a potential murderer.
I've been looking at some live updates. There were several mentions that his mother has been crying during the victim impact statements.

I have no idea what would work, but after thinking hard about it for 2 minutes I think it'd be something like this:
- Find all lifers with no parole that have a chance to interact with him
- Figure out who has been violent. List shouldn't be very short.
- From that list, figure out who has kids or young loved ones on the outside
- Also from that list, figure out who has criminal friends on the outside
- Narrow down to a short list of targets
- Go to friend on the outside to use to pass a message
- Offer to pay lifer's kids $100,000 from an anonymous trust when they turn 21 if the deed is done
- If they rat, trust goes away
- If their criminal friend rats, I just say they're full of shite and I have more credibility
There are some holes, but I'd be highly, highly motivated and I'm a smart person with resources. Like "Law Abiding Citizen".

Lots of research has been done on him and his childhood. He was just a weird, intelligent kid, likely with something like asbergers or whatnot. Felt it was the worlds fault he wasn't popular. Parents loved him, but he is just wired wrong. They supported him through a lot of down periods in his life and kept supporting him, until this.
His baseline state was weird, paranoid, and argumentative so it wasn't much different after the murders to them.

His professor at DeSales University has written several books about serial killers and the psychology behind it. This is where he became fascinated and obsessed with not only murder, but the psychology behind serial killing and everything that goes into it.
Dr. Katherine Ramsland if you're interested.
"Ramsland stated that she remembered Kohberger as a respectful, intense, and curious student, and that she didn't perceive any red flags from him during their interactions. However, she has expressed concerns that her courses on serial killers might have inadvertently inspired him. "
