All four were bigger and that’s just off the top of my head.

I wasn’t including political assassinations.

saw this addressed and they said way to much air traffic in that area

I kinda figured there was some traffic but I certainly don't know how much but "in the name of safety" it would have been possible right? Obviously the chopper pilot didn't ask so we'll never know.

As big as the death Princess Diana was, it has less meaning to people who don't really follow the Royal Family

This site hates the royals and always questions why do people care about them.

I’m pretty sure the OT would have been sick of all the princess di coverage.

this is arguably the biggest celebrity death of all time; at least in the United States.

tou-fricking-che! 41 years since his death and that complex keeps expanding to accommodate more(revenue) visitors, don't even think about trying to go there in mid-August

Did he really? I haven't read more than the first few pages of any Kobe thread because I figured it would be the same shite in each one.. I am going to have to go back and read them..

I didn’t say Kobe was the biggest/most famous celebrity to die; I made that explicitly clear.

I said the circumstances, tragedy, and the story surrounding his death is arguably the biggest.

not even that, imo, it's new, it's big, but to most outside of the sports world, it's likely passed, hell gays are still morning Versace, took them years to find a new line of clothing

Not a Kobe fan but i'll take this over hearing about royal family defections, kardashians, and impeachment any day.

on the same token, how quickly did average americans forget princess di? how quickly did people move on from michael Jackson, considering a good portion of the population considered him a kid diddling freak?

the father/daughter aspect of the kobe tragedy transcends the sports world.

that's sort of my point, because it's new and everything in the media is over done it's staying in our faces, but it will die down pretty quickly, imo

I have a question that may or may not be stupid; once it became impossible to navigate visually, couldn't the chopper pilot ask for clearance to say 3,000 feet so he would be visible on radar (and maybe above the fog/cloud cover) and have the controller guide him to a safe place?
Or just land.
