K&B was everywhere when I was young, but they had a Woolworths in the old Bon Marche. That's where I got the Big League Chew and my Garbage Pail Kids.

K&B. There was one at the entrance of my neighborhood growing up. I've never been to a Woolworths

Oh, yeah. A trip to the TG&Y was the happiest shopping destination for me when I was a kid.

The toy aisle, with everything from metal tootsie-toy cars to green plastic army-men to model kits. The back aisle with the books, like Whitman story books, Little Golden Guides, and coloring books for the little 'uns. Plus, a back corner in the store filled with tropical fish in tanks, back when that was a big thing. Could find comic books in 'three-packs' there (the hidden, middle comic usually being a clunker), and various gum-cards. Best store around for a kid.

But, I can't deny Woolworth's had a good advantage with its lunch-counter, where you could sit up at the long bar and get a hamburger and a coke.

Depends on what we needed. Visited both along with TG&Y. Classic stores

Who remembers the soda fountain in K&B...?

You could get everything from breakfast and burgers to ice cream.

I also recall G.C. Murphy Co. They had a little lunch-counter too, but usually with only about five stools to sit, alongside a fairly short dining bar.

But, I could never quite pigeonhole what G.C. Murphy's was. They seemed a little too big for a 'dime store,' yet too small for a 'department store.' Maybe it was what you used to hear called a 'variety store,' like the TG&Y was.

I didn't really have much interaction with KnB, as they didn't show up in my area until the fairly late-1970s. Just like we didn't have an Eckerd's until nearly 1976. I remember I found the Eckerd store's design rather startlingly modernistic, as previously I was accustomed to drug stores and dime stores being older and more individualistic looking, as they were apt to be. Buildings and stores that often dated originally dating back to the 1940s or 1950s, and still doing business.

K&B for sure. Miss the 25 cent half gallon ice cream.

K&B was more available for me than Woolworth's.

Ruston still had a K&B in the early 80's to buy Milwaukee's Best cheap beer as a freshman at LaTech.

K & B’s were all over the New Orleans area.

Thats where everyone went.

There werent many Woolworths.

But the one on Canal by the Saengar had a great bakery that made amazing donuts. They had a lunch counter too, but I think they took it out in the 80’s.

I want to say that big Woolworth on Canal closed around Katrina. Not 100% sure.
