Kitten

Some lowlife POS dumped a tiny kitten on the highway near my home during a thunderstorm. I have taken him in and am trying to feed him. He is a male but I have no idea how old he is. I bought Kitten Chow but I don't he he has ever eaten solid food. He wants milk so I am guessing that he was not weaned. I bought kitten milk replacer but am not sure how much or how often to feed it to him. One tablespoon of milk replacer powder in two tablespoons of water seems to be the right size for a meal. Never had a kitten this young before. Does anybody have experience with this? I would appreciate any advice.

I would Google that. I know of rescues that deal with that stuff and it’s a job in and of itself. Sucks that someone dumped the cat. Look at any local rescues in your area or call the local vet. They should help out a ton.
My wife brought home this kitten and the fricking thing has thumbs. I named her Wonks.

Milk for now.
Soak a few kibble of the Kitten Chow in milk and introduce that in a few days once he gets comfortable.
Put a pan with a shallow layer of litter near (but not next to) where he eats to get him used to a litter box.

Give him whole milk. He will be fine.
Try soaking kitten food in the milk.

No dry food when they are that small, see if he'll eat wet food and it will be much easier for you. We started all of ours on wet food as soon as they'll take it, usually around 3-4 weeks.
If it still wants to nurse, the little bottles are useless. Try a medicine dropper or a medium size (10mL) syringe. They'll stop eating when they're full and their appetite grows quick so in a week he may be eating double what he starts out on.
Post a pic and I'll guess his age.
Edited - don't give him cow's milk, it wrecks their stomach. Use the milk replacer for kittens and warm it for a few seconds in the microwave before you feed him.

Not so sure on this one. We had a stray kitten show up in our yard. Vet's office said not to give them milk. Cartoons are apparently wrong.

A cat showed up at our house about 4 weeks ago. Can’t be older than a year. Of course my wife and daughter started to feed even though I told them not to. Now we are the proud owners of 5 kittens. She had them in my closet last week. I’m not a cat person, but I’ll fight someone if they come mess with these little babies.
Not a good pic, but I didn’t want to disturb her.

Dude, it's a cat, don't overthink it and I love cats. I have one.
Give it a bowl of that purina kitten milk and make a litter box out of shoe box (cut a slit for a door) and leave it in the bathroom for a night. Take the nice rugs out.
Give it more milk tomorrow and wet cat food tomorrow night.
Then, decide what the hell you want to do with it. Keep it, a rescue kitten will make a great pet.
My cat wound in a Monroe drainage ditch right before a huge storm. I took him in while on a late night walk RIGHT before the storm hit. I did the above and 3 years later he rules the roost a my house. Perfect, cheap, low maintenance pet. They bathe themselves to perfection. What more could you ask of a pet?

when you got the kitten powder you should have gotten the dropper feeder. depending on age he may need fed by a dropper. pet smart & Tractor Supply sells them.

Most cats are lactose intolerant to cow milk..much higher concentration of lactase enzyme

Yeah she’s awesome. I’m not a cat person at all but she’s grown on me. Our chocolate lab loves her and the feeling is mutual. The puppy though? Nope, her energy is too much for the kitten.

Get some of this and simply follow the directions.
Depending on the age, the kitten may want to drink from a bottle, rather thsn a bowl.
