My kid was blah blah blah-ing about sharks the other day and I set him straight. Orcas can kill whales by keeping them underwater and/or covering their blowholes until they drown... they can also kill sharks by holding them upside down and inducing tonic immobility. Orcas are smart as frick.

Yep. You used to always see the nature shows with orcas on how they would go after seals, fish, and whatnot. They are much too large, equipped with large teeth, for those small creatures to be their main diet. They evolved such things as the wolves of the sea. Pack hunting the larger whales much like a pack of wolves might take down a elk, moose, or bison.

Orcas likely became more dependent upon seals and fish after human whaling fleets decimated the larger cetacean populations.

but it got the bird and fish combo.

had it went just for bird first, one of them frickers would have snatched the fish.

Did you even see what happened? The orca had the fish in his mouth already, and spit it out for bird bait

What do you mean "eventually"? I was here before you, bub.

I apologize for trying to broaden your simple mind. Hope it didn't hurt you too badly.
