Assuming that, at this point, Brit knows what $200 million is, there is going to be some serious flailing around, while holding chef's knives. Wait until she discovers lighting firecrackers and bottle rockets.

I wonder if you have to run a chain of title on music catalogs similar to land. Something like researching where and when she’s licensed it to whom and for what amount of time and then place a value on the remaining opportunities.
And Britney maybe had some capacity and conservatorship issues that really made things fuzzy.

if he got a billion AND he got all this too, then that is the fricking deal of the century...
Yeah, it is an unprecedented deal with Lyric Capital. They have basically paid him a billion upfront against future catalog earnings and he retains all music rights. The Weeknd is a special case because unlike most artists, his popularity doesn't fall off after initial release of his albums. He has 30 songs with over a billion streams on Spotify, more than any other artist. The tour he's still on has made over a billion dollars as well.

As if she actually wrote any of that material by herself.

i suppose theres a lot more ways to make money off of the music than back then. beatles catalog is valued at like 1.5 billion. "Sony acquired full control of the publishing rights in 2016 by purchasing the Michael Jackson estate's 50% stake for $750 million."
The Beatles catalog ownership is a bit more complicated. Sony owns ex-US rights. As the copyrights expire in the US, McCartney and the Lennon estate have been acquiring the US rights.
The reason MJ got the Beatles rights in the first place was because he stabbed McCartney in the back. He had a conversation with McCartney where McCartney told him to get into music publishing. MJ said he was going to buy the Beatles rights. McCartney thought he was kidding. Next thing you know, he outbid McCartney for the Beatles catalog.

I can't speak for music but this happens with movies.
Sometimes studios don't track the IP back far enough and some random book author where the IP originated gets an injunction a few days before the premier.
Looks like something similar happened with the latest Superman, but for the foregin rights
