Is she considered funny? Seems like she tries too hard to let you know she is telling a joke.

I think she’s a good performer, but no she’s not funny. As Norm once famously put it:

A good rule of thumb to live by is anyone associated with Ghostbusters 2016 is terminally not funny.

I think she's funny on SNL as well. The alien abduction skit she is in with Ryan Gosling is one of my favorites.

From what I understand she is good at improv and I think that's safe to say because she is pretty versatile.

I guess comedy is a generational thing. I don't even crack a smile at her attempts at humor.
That said, I don't find most of the 70s SNL skits to be that funny, either. Amusing, chuckle-worthy funny but not laugh hard funny.
Give me some late 80s through early 2000s, though and I'm belly laughing.

While I record all of the new SNLs, I do so for the News Updates more than anything and rarely watch anything else (unless I like the guest or musical performer), but I think it was an earlier episode from the Fall.. She was on the News Updates playing someone.. I forget who it was I will have to look it up, but I LOL'd at her role.
I think the News Updates are pretty funny, but I rarely LOL. Anyone who doesn't think she is talented or any good is just saying it because its what they are supposed to say about her on here.
