I heard it begins with the sacrifice of a pledge to the spirit of Robert E. Lee, and then Lee descends from the heavens to manifest the body of the pledge, and he then sodomizes the brothers of the fraternity for the remainder of the evening, all with their consent and pure admiration.
nailed it, I used to live next door to those bastards on Dalrymple, saw it every year

They play dress up and pretend to be old southern aristocrats. It's pretty silly and harmless. I'm guessing you have a racial angle here but the Greeks owned slaves too. Are toga parties a problem?
I'm so glad we're e-friends.

It's fun. You get to dress up like a Confederate Officer, have black folk serve you drinks, and you get to bang your date dressed up in an Antebellum dress.
What's not to like?

What is Sigma Chi's obsession with the Kentucky Derby???
Most fraternities have a big party centered around something that doesn't necessarily make sense to others but has something to do with the history of their chapter/organization.

Old South is not just something attributed to fraternities. Go check out Bluffs and bayous magazine
Small southern towns embrace the entire culture of 'old South' as it pertains to dressing up(most of the time) and entertaining over dinner and shite like that.

The correct OT answer to this obvious race troll question is:
It allows the KA's to bend a woman over and bang her from behind while fighting to keep the hoop skirt out of the way and yelling "The South will rise again!!!" the whole time.

It's basically a week long party celebrating the roots of the fraternity, and celebrating the values of Robert E. Lee. My chapter doesn't dress in the confederate uniforms anymore and hasn't for many years. Dressing in the uniforms was for the formal, not like the guys go to class dressed as a Confederate officer.
Every day of the week a different party, sorry you weren't cool enough to get a bid bro. Maybe if you were cooler one of the guys would have let you come to a party.

We did that in college. One of our brothers got in trouble for blackface when he dressed up as Tiger.

It's fun. We always stayed in New Orleans and rented out an old plantation home somewhere outside of the city for the formal part. Houmas House was the one I remember.
Sorry about the absence of a bid bro.
