A historic 10-mile road in Kansas City, Mo., will no longer be known as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., after having nearly 100 signs erected with his name stand for only nine months.

The proposal to remove the celebrated civil rights leader’s name received overwhelming support from voters, with 70 percent casting ballots Tuesday in favor of restoring the boulevard back to its original name, The Paseo, according to unofficial results reported in the Kansas City Star.

It was a chance for black church leaders to call Save The Paseo group members racist to their faces, one of its organizers told the Associated Press. Members in gray shirts with the green and white “Save The Paseo” logo that looks like street signs, appeared to be of different ethnic and racial backgrounds, though King Street supporters allege that the group is majority white, according to the Associated Press.

So I guess 70% of Kansas city's residents are racists.

"What about those black, Latino and Asian people with them?"

".... yeah but still...they like, have more white people so it's still racist believe me"

I look at the social justice warriors, extremist liberals, extremist right-wing wackos and race-baiters as paid Russian trolls only here to stir up shite. It keeps me from getting pissed off at irrational stupidity.

Seems to be mostly out of town people complaining about changing it back. The Paseo is a historic street in KC that is pretty much strictly black. From what I've seen, most of the black people actually from KC wanted to keep it The Paseo the whole time.

If I were black, I would be more upset that they always pick the worst part of town to put the MLK Street. That’s racist.

No. You don't understand.
We have to have a street in every city named after MLK.
But we don't actually want to live in the way MLK suggested.

I'm legitimately curious if there is a nice MLK Jr Blvd anywhere in the country.

"Martin Luther King stood for non-violence. Now what’s Martin Luther King? A street! And I don’t give a frick where you are in America, if you’re on a Martin Luther King Boulevard, there is some violence going down! It ain’t the safest place to be. You can’t call nobody telling them you’re lost on MLK … “I’m lost, I’m on the Martin Luther King …” “Run! Run! Run!”

Damn, so close to reducing the crime rate on that street.

Why do we treat MLK as some sort of immortal god?
