He dfinitely got his start because of dad....like many of us, no knock there. More of a lack of quality people to compete against (see bobby, semper fi, newell, tommy tucker, gus etc.)
I think what it is, when he fill dead time on radio, he comes off as a smartass or just an a-hole. Cant really put my finger on it, but I when hes got time constraints or alot to cover hes much better. not good "freelancing"
Ive seen him on Tv and he does much better being interviewed.

New Orleans talk radio is just fricking garbage across the board.
WWL Radio has some of the God awful personalities I’ve ever listened.
Since they all suck I’ll just tell you the ones I like.
I like Bobby, I don’t care what you say, that dude makes me laugh
I also like Mark Menard, he’s very knowledgeable and he’s speaks clearly and seems intelligent
Everyone else, and I mean everyone else, completely fricking sucks goat dicks.
I wish David Tyree was still around.

I feel that sports talk (if that's what you want to call his show) is much better in most of the country than it is in NOLA.

Nah, just not a fan of his. Nothing personal. I've tried to listen to his show many times because again, not many other options. He's just not good.

Bobby, with an actual decent straight man cohort, would be fantastic. Instead, he gets continuously stuck with guys who are unwittingly goofier/dumber than him, like Deke and Khristian Garrick.
