This is the problem right here:

How long will we continue to allow injustice? How long will we continue to perpetuate the vestiges of slavery in this country? How long will we decide to measure our children by the worst thing, as opposed to the height of their character and the best things about them? How long will we continue to waste our resources not investing in their future, but by investing in continuing to harm them It was under democratic progressive leadership that we decided that these types of facilities were not the best to rehabilitate kids. It’s a dog gone shame that under democratic say-so progressive leadership that we’re putting them back in those facilities. That does not make sense. We shouldn’t treat a dog this way, if we were housing dogs at Angola in 130-degree temps, more of y’all would be mad. But since it’s kids that look like me, less of us care said President of the NAACP in Baton Rouge.
OJJ officials say the unit is indeed air-conditioned, and juvenile inmates are never placed solitary confinement.

You had one kid who broke out of Bridge City twice. He allegedly shot someone; they are now paralyzed in Uptown New Orleans. What do you say to the victims’ families who are saying, hey we don’t want them out, we want them to stay in Angola

The case against a Bridge City Center for Youth escapee and another youth who allegedly carjacked and shot an Uptown man was dismissed after the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office missed a deadline to bring formal charges in adult court.

Scott Toups, a 59-year-old man, lived happily with his wife and three children. He had been an electrician for over 30 years and was a part of the Mardi Gras Parade Krewe until he was injured on July 17, 2022. Scott's formerly busy lifestyle came to an abrupt end that day. He was carjacked and mercilessly shot twice on that fateful day. He has been in the Trauma ICU since the event, fighting for his life and leaving his family and friends distraught. Scott will likely recover to some extent, although he will require medical attention for the rest of his life.

We don't put them there. They put themselves there.
Why don't you take this up with the people who are supposed to be raising them?

Good point. We should be putting the parents in jail with the kids

If they are in Angola I’m guessing it’s easy to figure what kind of kid they are & a safe bet they won’t be a better adult

The crazy thing is Angola actually has rehabilitation devices in place. You can earn a 4 year degree, a trade or skill and be useful once you’re out.

If you go to a parish prison or juvie facility you’re not learning anything but bad habits and contacts.

The problem is zero accountability and a victim mentality on why their life decisions have them in the situations they're currently in

I fully support sending the delinquents to Angola. Maybe it will scare them straight.

What an odd lens to view someone through

Frick that, if they can do an adult crime; they can do the adult time.

When does it hit 130 anywhere in Louisiana. Get a grip. Do the crime, do the time. I don’t care about what color they are.

Hopefully the good judge doesn’t have “misguided youth” stab one of her loved ones in the throat while car jacking them. The type of youth who instead of being locked up ran from the non secure placement the day they were placed there.

You ignore the very sobering reality

ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES -

And Marxists/socialists have removed this societal reality from a child’s upbringing thru a myriad of bull$hit ‘feel good’ programs and regulations, the 1st of which was the destruction of the family unit.

‘Time Out’ and the lack of arse whippings eroded discipline to what it is today.

It doesnt have to be 130 outside for inside temps to get higher. I spent a summer in a shipping warehouse and we regularly had temps in the 120s in the warehouse.

Maybe it does the opposite? It's gladiator school. I've known quite a few who've been through that type of shite and it forces you to become a "Viking or victim" in order to make it out in one piece. Most of them never get right after that. And most times, the CO's are worse than the inmates. shite rolls downhill

It has nothing to do with what they look like and everything to do with how they behave and the crimes they commit.

I can almost guarantee the “kids” that were placed there are already savages.

Maybe so, but they usually aren’t indoors during the hottest parts of the day. I also would think there’s some general form of AC there. I don’t think the prisoners have vents in their rooms or anything but what guard would take the job if they had to stand around in 130 degree heat.

Regardless, if a prisoner doesn’t want to be at Angola then there is a simple way to avoid it on the front end. The people at Angola are not petty thieves, they all earned their place there.
