From my experiences working with teachers the last few months the ones who complain are the ones who are shite at it. If you love what you’re doing you’re not going to complain about it and you’re going to excel. Also the ones who bitch and moan are the vocal minority.

But they all get paid the same, regardless of their skill or effort.

Public education is the least American institution. There is a good reason why you don't see any mention of public education in the Constitution (which isn't written on a 3rd grade reading level so most Americans can't comprehend it).

Teachers are off of work for the next 2 and half months. Must be nice to live like a kid the rest of your life and have the summers off. If I had a Facebook I would post about wishing to be a teacher so I could have summers off and still get paid.

Is there a profession that complains about being in there own profession while being so tone deaf?

Yeah .... it is nice.... only I'm also a coach. so I probably get less time off than you do. Go back to flipping your burgers and be sure your hair net is on correctly.

fact check: May 31 to July 24 is 39 weekdays or 55 days total. A month is 30 days on average. Looks like someone could use a teacher right about now...

Is this the thread where teachers complain about how much time they spend preparing for classes when 99% of curriculums are the same every year.

You say this but then scientists come along and say Pluto isn’t a planet and I have to spend weeks changing my lesson plan

It wouldn’t be teaching then bc they don’t get paid during those summers off.

One of my sons is a teacher/football and baseball coach who loves fishing. He hits the water early and often once school lets out.

Screw everyone who thinks a teacher has it easy. Some may be lazy but the ones I know well bust their arse and go the extra mile to succeed and have their kids/players succeed.
They deserve the summers off.

I don't think anyone disagrees with you. We just don't want our FB feed clogged up with them bitching when the summer is over

Tired of this social security argument. They can work anywhere after they retire in their fifties pay into SS and then draw it like the rest of us do.

Their defined pension, almost an unheard of perk in private industry these days, is FAR more lucrative than Social Security.

Teachers for the most part fail to understand just how lucrative their compensation plan is.

DROP is what gets me. None of them want to whine about that.

It just is not right that government retirees in Louisiana do not pay income tax on their government pensions. More than a few of those pensions are 6 figures. They don't pay state taxes on their DROP payments either.

My wife is a teacher. She teaches Special Ed. It's a calling to some dipshite and you know what is cool, I don;t have to pay Day Care. The only thing that irks me that I can remotely agree with you on is that she has to do workshops over the Summer. She complains about that. I calmly remind her that she has the rest of the Summer off.

Have a downvote btw.
